Turns out those dudes in Whitechapel are going to be alright. About a decade removed from the great Deathcore rush, this Knoxville unit is still putting up strong numbers and successfully exploring beyond the confines of the genre. And if you enjoyed the genre line blurring on 2019s The Valley, well it turns out Kin (Metal Blade) is willing to venture further out into the woods.
Cannibal Corpse has booked a headline tour of the USA for this Winter with support from labelmates Whitechapel and Revocation! Additional support will be provided by Shadow Of Intent. A celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Metal Blade Records, the trek begins February 19th in Atlanta, Georgia and makes its way through over two dozen cities, closing on March 26th in Ft. There is a powerful being that has arrived with one goal in mind: wreak havoc over everyone and everything until existence itself is all but wiped out. But it’s not a pandemic, it’s Praenuntius. The South-African six-piece Vulvodynia is responsible for this entity, and they’ve told its story via Praenuntius Infiniti (Unique Leader Records) in the form of crushing Deathcore and downright nightmarish lyrics.
Long-running Deathcore leaders Whitechapel have announced their new album Kin, due out on October 29th,2021 via Metal Blade Records. The band has shared the full album details as well as a new single for the track “Lost Boy”, along with a music video directed by Miles Skarin. Say what you will about Deathcore, it is nothing if not persistent. Not that the idea of mixing Death Metal and Hardcore is a new one (i.e., Suffocation) but when the term deathcore is applied today it recalls the halcyon years between 2007 and 2012 when a young man’s worth was determined by his throat tattoo, the size of his gauges and his MySpace networking skills. The Palladium, Worcester, MA 11/22/19
An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to support the employees of both The Worcester Palladium and Webster theatre, two venues in New England that have been hosts to thousands of metal, hardcore, and rock shows and countless other events for decades. Both venues are operated by Mass Concerts, and the fundraiser is to bring relief aid to their workers due to the cancellation from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 2019 seems an odd year for me to be writing a post about my albums of year, and to have so many albums I want to name-check or mention. See, early in the year I stepped down from my role within Ghost Cult – nothing the Cult did wrong, just a question of life and balance. Stepping back from direct exposure to every rock, metal or alternative release should have meant I had fewer albums to care about, but, actually, it’s afforded me more time with each of the albums that I have connected with.Continue reading
