Genre-defining rock group and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day performed on the Amazon Music Live stage following Thursday Night Football. Hosted by 2 Chainz and airing after the NFL’s Thursday Night Football, the weekly live-streamed concert series saw Green Day performing some of their biggest hits including “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” The group also performed new songs “The American Dream Is Killing Me” and “Look Ma, No Brains.” Fans can watch Green Day’s performance of “The American Dream is Killing Me” below!
Hop-Hop, Metal and acting legend Ice-T of Body Count has had an entire career working in in movies and television series, such as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Listen to him narrate the commercial for SuperBowl LVI (56) taking place next Sunday, February, 13th, 2022 on NBC and Peacock! The commercial promoting the big game between the Los Angeles Rams vs The Cincinnati Bengals also features the music track “Harder Than You Think” by Public Enemy. Ice-T and Body count won a Grammy for Carnivore in 2021, and will release a new album in 2022 via Century Media.
As we previously reported, Heavy Metal legend Dee Snider hashelped launch a Change.org petition to get the NFL to hire classic rock legends and recently reunited AC/DC to perform at the SuperBowl Halftime show. Originally started by a fan, Gina Di Lecce, the petition grew from fan outcry and Dee’s criticism on social media following this year’s halftime show performance from Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Heavy music is used constantly in sports, especially the NFL. Famously rock and metal bands such as Metallica, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, and Guns N Roses (2020)have all performed on the NFL’s pre-game concert the day before. Anyone performing at the big game performs for free and must pre-record and lip-sync their performance, which is why some groups like Metallica have said definitely no to performing, while The Red Hot Chili Peppers infamously made fun of themselves lip-synching in 2014, with Flea being the most notorious culprit. They also were a guest of Bruno Mars and not a headliner themselves that night. The last real rock act to perform at the SuperBowl Halftime Show was The Who in 2010. in 2009. Mike Patton(Faith No More, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, Mondo Cane, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Fantômas) was slated to sing the US National Anthem ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ yesterday before the Dallas Cowboys versus the Los Angels RamsNFL Playoffs game. Sadly, at the last-minute, Patton canceled due to illness. Too bad since Patton is a legend and it would have been rad to see him sing in a more traditional setting. Get well soon Mike! We hope you get another shot someday.

On the heels of dropping their new video for their single ‘Hardwired’ earlier today, Metallica has now released the full information and track listing for their new album. The album was produced by Greg Fidelman, (Slayer) who engineered 2009’s Death Magnetic album.
Lars Ulrich commented about the album:
“Has it really been eight years? Doesn’t feel like it! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. We’re obviously beyond psyched to share new tunes with all our friends out there. ‘Hardwired’ was played for the first time earlier today during a live remote broadcast from Metallica’s HQ in the Bay Area. During an interview with Minneapolis rock station 93X discussing the band’s performance at U.S. Bank Stadium on August 20th, Lars Ulrich stunned 93X’s Pablo by premiering the track. ‘Hardwired’ will be delivered as an instant download to fans who pre-order the album.
Metallica also premiered the official video for “Hardwired” today.
Metallica will perform this Saturday, August 20th, at U.S. Bank Stadium – the new home of the Minnesota Vikings. The band’s performance will be the first rock concert at the venue and tickets sold out in less than 10 minutes.
