In the latest episode of Gibson TV sits down with one of the most influential metal guitarists of all time, Kirk Hammett. Since 1983, Kirk Hammett has been the lead guitarist and member of Metallica. Prior to joining the band, he formed the group Exodus in high school with Gary Holt and helped invent thrash metal as one of the most influential guitarists of this age. Members of Guns N Roses, Metallica, and Rage Against The Machine Honor Eddie Van Halen at Virtual Rock Hall Ceremony



Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees virtual ceremony last night, November 7th, 2020. The program aired on HBO and to stream on HBO Max November 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will replace the live 35th annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony that was originally scheduled for May 2 of this year. Eddie died on October 6 at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California at the age of 65. The tribute was announced within days of his passing. The band was founded in 1974 and Van Halen was inducted into the Hall of Fame with his band in 2007. The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame 2020 inductee class included Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex, and Ahmet Ertegun Award honorees Jon Landau and Irving Azoff. Continue reading

Metallica Resumes Rehearsals Together During Quarentine


Metallica has shared a video to its Instagram stories showing the four members of the band playing together at their headquarters in San Rafael, California. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo can be seen playing the intro to “Creeping Death”, with everyone except Hetfield wearing face masks. It is not presently clear if Metallica is rehearsing for a specific event or if it is preparing to take part in a recording session. In early May, the four members of Metallica overcame social distancing to record a new version of their song “Blackened”, with each member separated in his own home. The split-screen video was posted to the band’s social media channels.

Former Metallica Bassist Jason Newsted Shares Home Video from Quarantine


Jason Newstead, former member of Metallica, has shared a home video with fans while self-quarantining with his wife, Nicole.due to the coronavirus in his home in Jupiter, Florida. To date, Newsted has been part of the Jupiter community for nearly 20 years. He captioned the clip: “Just having some fun during Social Distancing”.Newstead who has had other projects post-Metallica such as Echobrain and his solo Metal band Newstead as well as a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s touring band and Voivod. More recently he has done some charity shows with The Chophouse band of which he is the frontman. He also famously quit all social media in 2014, and didn’t comment on it publicly until 2017. Jason was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, in 2009.Continue reading
