Although Illan is world-renowned for his drumming prowess in groups like Angels & Airwaves and Nine Inch Nails, he has been quietly building a monster band with The New Regime over a series of killer albums, EPs and singles. The bands’ new release Body is third mini-release in the trilogy following Heart and Mind and is dropping on January 24th. The new full-length Heart Mind Body & Soul is coming later this spring. Ghost Cult had the pleasure of spending our Halloween 2019 at HQ chatting with the legend himself, Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth by phone. Amidst a whirlwind few years of touring the world, writing, and recording a new album, Dani has brought forth the amazing complete Remix and Remaster of their 1998 landmark album Cruelty and The Beast. The resulting release – Cruelty and the Beast – Remistressed Edition, out now via Music For Nations (read the Ghost Cult full review here), is one of the finest remasters you will ever hear, totally going back to the source tapes and present the album as it was intended. Dani was happy to discuss the arduous process that took years, the reasons (mostly legal) the collection didn’t release as planned in 1998, the work he did with Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio, his thoughts on Cruelty upon its release compared with now, the infamous story of their 1998 arrest at The Vatican, and his plans for the next Cradle album, coming soon!
