For over fifty years – King Crimson has been one of the most singular experiences and one of the greatest bands on record or live. Led by musical icon Robert Fripp, few other artists or bands are really comparable. UK filmmaker Toby Amies will shine a light on the enigmatic troupe in his new documentary In The Court Of The Crimson King, making its world premiere at South By Southwest (SXSW) with screenings on March 14th and18th. IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING is screening in the 24 Beats Per Second section, which showcases the sounds, culture, and influence of music and musicians, with an emphasis on documentaries.
WHO:
Toby Amies is a UK-based filmmaker and broadcaster who specializes in programs about art, music, and travel with an emphasis on fringe culture and alternative perspectives. While Amies began his career as a DJ, TV presenter, and music marketer, he is best known for his feature-length documentary THE MAN WHOSE MIND EXPLODED and his broadcast work on Radio4 and Film4, and series Alternative Nation, Lonely Planet Six Degrees, Angela and Friends, MTV Live, Artland USA, and Rough Guide To… Amies is also a widely published portrait photographer and writer.
