“The song ‘Shake My Blood’ was my first opportunity to express what I was feeling about the whole situation,” Brodsky explained at the time of the album’s release. “It’s a mix of extreme grief, frustration and anger. I was trying to do something to gain the clearest answer about whatever the next move might be. We worked on the lyrics together, and all three of us sing on that song — Adam’s doing the high harmonies and J.R. [Conners, drums] is doing the low harmonies.”

Of their appearance on “The Songbook,” Brodsky and McGrath offer in a joint statement: “It was very cool of Gibson to have us perform an acoustic version of a Cave In song. We even snuck in part of a Joe Walsh song that day, jamming fireside in a canyon in Los Angeles last fall. As fans of sixties and seventies California folk/country/psych, the location and vibe were both right up our alley. And of course, the way their guitars played and sounded was right on. Thanks to Gibson for the opportunity, and thank you for watching!”
