Randy Blythe Performs With Bad Brains At Secret Show In New York City

Last night was the opening of Bad Brains member Darryl Jennifer’s Mind Power art show at Okayplayer’s Okay Space in Williamsburg, and it quickly turned from an art show into a historic night in music. Darryl opened the event with a quick jam session, while fans got to see his art, and then H.R., Dr. Know, and Earl Hudson joined him for a surprise Bad Brains set. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Lamb Of God‘s Randy Blythe joined the band to perform “The Big Takeover” & “Banned In DC.” Not to be outdone, Sid McCray, the original singer of Bad Brains, then stepped up to the mic, and ended the night was a powerful version of “The Regulator.”

Check out fan footage of the secret show, as well as Randy’s recap of the night, below!

Tonight was one of the best nights of my life. Bad Brains played a secret show in Brooklyn at an art gallery for the opening of their bassist's art exhibit- no stage, on the floor with the people, straight-up old-school style. That's why I'm in NYC, to help these dudes out with a couple of the faster tunes. The full original lineup of Bad Brains played- HR sang "Jah Love" "The Youth Are Getting Restless" & "Re-Ignition". Then I sang "The Big Takeover" & "Banned In DC". Then Sid McCray, the FIRST singer of Bad Brains closed it out by singing "Regulator" for the first time since 1978. HOLY COW. The crowd went INSANE. In these divisive times, we all UNITED tonight in one huge, intense ball of PMA- black, white, yellow, red, brown, male, female- all of us were UNITED- all you saw & felt were smiles. Absolutely incredible, & punk rock to the core. You could just FEEL the love in the air. I sang with my favorite band of all time tonight- I can't explain how that makes me feel. So thanks for asking me to be here, @badbrainsofficial! ONE LOVE PEOPLE! ❤️✊?✊?✊?✊?✊?❤️ Photo by: @kevinwilsonnyc. #badbrains #pma
