Tower Records Returns As An Online Retailer

Tower Records, the beloved international chain of record stores, has re-emerged as an online retailer and music content hub following a website redesign. The namesake of the former retail giant was sold with many of the other assets of the brand in 2006, but just recently redesigned their website and began sharing interviews and exclusive merch, and custom releases such as colored vinyl, similar to other brands in the sector. TowerRecords.com sports the iconic red logo and font and bright yellow background that was the main feature of their branding. Founded by Russell Soloman in Sacramento California, he great the brand to include iconic shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles (on the Sunset Strip), New York City (both the East Village and Lincoln Center locations were immense) Brea, Mountain View, and Sacramento, California, as well as stores in Austin, Boston, Massachusetts, Nashville, New York City, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, and later Japan (spun off to its own business, still operating), United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Ireland, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Argentina. The last physical Tower Records shop closed on December 22nd, 2006 in Mountain View, CA.Soloman died in 2018. More recently there was a great documentary about Soloman and the brand, All Things Must Pass. Check out the new Tower Records website!
