Hot on the heels of Tom Morello expanding his media outreach to SiriusXM on a new set of music channels and a podcast, comes word that the Rage Against the Machine guitarist has been named the Executive Music Producer of the upcoming Netflix film, Metal Lords from Game of Thrones producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The film, a coming-of-age comedy, was written by D.B. Weiss and produced by D.B. Weiss and Greg Shapiro. Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) is set to direct. The film stars Jaeden Martell, Isis Hainsworth, and Adrian Greensmith. This movie will be the first feature to come out of Netflix’s partnership with Benioff & Weiss. The plot of the show follows two kids who want to start a heavy metal band in a high school where exactly two kids care about heavy metal.

Metal Lords is the first film to come out of Netflix’s partnership with Benioff & Weiss, who have made Netflix their creative home to write, produce and direct new series and films.
