Video: Five Finger Death Punch – My Nemesis

Five Finger Death Punch has released a new video for their track ‘My Nemesis’, from their 2015 album Got Your Six (Prospect Park). You can watch the video at this link or below:

‘My Nemesis’ was directed renowned director Nick Peterson, who previously directed the videos for ‘Coming Down’ (2012) and ‘Wrong Side Of Heaven’ (2014).

Continuing in the similar vein from their video for ‘Wrong Side of Heaven’, FFDP guitarist Zoltan Bathory comments:

In life everyone has a nemesis… it can be anything… a self-defeating thinking pattern, a bad habit, an addiction, an adversary… something or someone that puts you in an impossible scenario, where you are presented with a fork in the road. Sometimes there is no other choice but making a hard choice. You can give up and just suffer the situation, or you can use your pain to overcome it, as pain is truly the wind in the sails of change. We wanted to present a story about moving on, a story that probes and questions compassion and loyalty. Those are beautiful notions, but remember you have to be loyal and fair to yourself as well, so will you sacrifice yourself for another or will you live with the guilt that you didn’t.”

In support of the video and the song’s message of overcoming our struggles, 5FDP is encouraging fans to share their own “Nemesis” on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram by completing the phrase – “#MyNemesis is ________ and I will #OVERCOME”. FFDP wants fans to share their stories and read and react to the stories of fellow fans over at fivefingerdeathpunch.com/mynemesis to breed positivity.

Five Finger Death Punch – Got Your Six

PromoImage

“Chaaarge!” growls prowling timebomb Ivan Moody to open up the newest Five Finger Death Punch album, Got Your Six (Prospect Park), as a massive, neck-loosening snap of a metal groove launches the title-track of their sixth opus. It’s a start that sets the tone as Nevada’s biggest metal act go on to flex their muscles once again all through, delivering to your ears another batch of arena-filling monsters.

Six albums in and you know by now exactly what you’re getting with 5FDP, and the latest installment lives up to expectations with eleven tracks of chugging, conviction, cussing, posturing, ball-breaking and a slew of grooving mainstream metal anthems. All the above are present and correct, Sir!

The majority of 5FDP’s output sits comfortably in the mid-tempo crunch n’ grind, and it’s in that comfort zone that Got Your Six exists, as ‘Jeckyll and Hyde’ lurches its steam-roller intent. Yet, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Moody has the perfect big metal voice, spitting and gruff with conviction then switching to strong, powerful melodies when the song needs them, while Jason Hook provides the type of melodic, memorable solos that are oft overlooked at regular intervals, adding colour with a classical guitar interlude to ‘Question Everything’, another track that slaps your chops and leaves them sporting a shit-eating grin. Likewise there will be no complaints when the heads are snapping to the thrashing, lively ‘No Sudden Movement’ or arms are in the air while singing out to ‘My Nemesis’.

While this time around the bands emphasis is slightly on the more fist-pump, growl-along side of their arsenal, there are some great choruses, not least ‘Ain’t My Last Dance’, that switches from juddering metal riffery to a trademark 5FDP descant with a refrain created for thousands to find themselves waking with an earworm, and in ‘Wash It All Away’ they have an absolutely colossal tune.

Got Your Six is side-to-side, front-to-back representin’ the good ship Death Punch in style with nary a whiff of filler. There may be no surprises, but there are no disappointments either from a band who knows exactly what they’re good at and how to deliver it in spades.

Five Finger Death Punch Guitarist Getting Signature Diamond Guitar

zoltanbathorydiamondsignature

Diamond Guitars will be unveiling the first ever Diamond Artist Signature Series, the Halycon ZB, at the 2015 NAMM Show this January in Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Diamond Amplification, Inc’s Jeff Diamant commented:

“Working with Zoltan requires constantly pushing for the next level,” said Jeff Diamant. “He is an accomplished and successful guitar player, known for testing the limits in each and every way. Besides forming one of the world’s biggest rock bands, he frequently straps himself into fighter jets, races million dollars monster trucks, trains special operators in close-quarters combat, and earns medals in professional martial arts tournaments. It’s clear that he is at war with the word ‘impossible.’ As you may have guessed, when it comes to his gear, he has the highest expectations for the design and engineering. Not every company can keep up with his relentless quest of making things bigger, better, and faster. Inevitably he will break you or make you to break the sound barrier.”

The result of Diamant and Bathory’s research and development was the Halcyon ZB models, which will come in two colors with slightly different configurations. The first, the Halcyon ZB-FR Black Moonrise model, is a Flamed Maple over Maple body, Maple set neck with Ebony fingerboard, 24 fret, 25.5″ scale length, Floyd Rose bridge and Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient pickup set, allowing players to use the thickest string gauge they want but retain clarity and ferocious tonality. The Halcyon ZB-FR Kona Brown model features a Flame Maple over Mahogany body, for a completely different and warmer feel, with Mahogany set neck and Ebony fingerboard with the aforementioned pickups and hardware configuration. The custom inlay on both models, spanning the first to third frets, is a Tibetan Flame encompassing a Double Dorje, which is also a tattoo on Bathory’s forearms. Symbolically a dorje represents the “thunderbolt of enlightenment,” that abrupt change in human consciousness, and coincidentally, the word also represents the diamond’s unique indestructible ability to cut any surface without harm to itself.

The new Halcyon ZB-FR models will be on display at the NAMM show in Diamond Guitars’ booth, Hall D Booth 3290, where customers will also have a chance to win one. As well, Seymour Duncan has announced the giveaway of one new Halcyon ZB-FR guitar model. Contest details can be found here.
