Zakk Sabbath, the Black Sabbath tribute band led by Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde has shared the first single from their upcoming Magnetic Eye Records tribute to the entire Sabbath self-titled debut album. The album is coming this fall, September 4th, and the album pre-sale has just started at the link below. The band is sharing a first track taken from “Vertigo” exclusively with Rolling Stone Magazine. You can now stream their tribute version of the iconic anthem, Black Sabbath, below.
Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society came out of the gate strong on Sonic Brew (Spitfire Records), even though it was a little under the radar for the high-profile Ozzy Osbourne band leader. While Sonic Brew, officially released in 1999 in the US, set the template for the BLS style, coming in about a year later refined what Zakk was aiming for. With better production, a bit heavier right hand, and a little more focus, the songs on Stronger Than Death (Spitfire) shine through. Continue reading
Good news as Black Label Society has announced rescheduled dates with Obituary and Lord Dying for this summer. The tour had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. Tickets are on sale now at the link below and tickets fro the previous shows will be honored. Zakk Wylde told Billboard recently since he has downtime with Ozzy Osbourne off the road, the band will work on their followup to 2018’s Grimmest Hits album, released via eOne Heavy. Continue reading
Zakk Wylde has sent a message of support to Ozzy Osbourne over social media after Ozzy went public with his battle with Parkinson’s disease earlier this week on an appearance with his wife Sharon Osbourne on Good Morning America on Tuesday (January 21). Ozzy hat he was diagnosed with the progressive neurological condition. The singer received the diagnosis last February after several health issues, including a near-deadly staph infection and a fall that damaged his nervous system. He’s treating the disease with medication. Wylde who has played guitar in Ozzy’s band on and off for more than 30 years tweeted out: “BIG BL LOVE & THANKS To EVERYBODY Out There Sending The BOSS Your POSITIVE ENERGY & PRAYERS OF STRENGTH!!! OZ – YOU’RE THE GREATEST!!! YOU ARE LOVED MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW!!! XO tBLSt SDMF @OzzyOsbourne”. Zakk, who often refers to Ozzy and Sharon as his “dad and mom” in interviews, recently toured with Ozzy from 2016 – 2018 but did not perform on his new album Ordinary Man. As promised by Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne will drop new music in the form of a single tomorrow. You can hear a snippet of the track below. Ozzy’s new studio album is tentatively due in January. Ozzy recently provided guest vocals on Post Malone’s song “Take What You Want”, a session overseen by producer Andrew Watt, and it led to Osbourne and Watt collaborating on Ozzy’s 12th solo LP. Zakk Wylde reportedly has not worked on the new album and so we are curious to hear the new music as well. Ozzy recently postponed his European 2020 tour dates back to 2021. According to Live Nation Sweden, the new European tour dates will now take place “in the first half of 2021.” The American dates remain in place for now.
Ozzy Osbourne is releasing his grand See You On The Other Side boxed set for his solo career soon, due out November 29 on Sony Legacy. Ozzy says of the collection “I’ve been doing this for 50 years, 10 with Black Sabbath and then 40 years of my own. Black Label Society, led by guitar icon Zakk Wylde, has booked a headline tour of the USA. Direct support will come from The Black Dahlia Murder and Alien Weaponry. Zakk Sabbath, the Black Sabbath tribute band led by Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde has partnered with the venerable Magnetic Eye Records to release a tribute to the entire Sabbath self-titled debut album. The release will come from MNE records on February 13th, 2020, fifty years to the day of the original Black Sabbath release. Zakk Sabbath’s aim is to faithfully re-record the album in the spirit of the original recordings: live in a fully analog studio, direct to two-inch tape in a single 24-hour period. A film crew will document the process, culminating in a single album and DVD release limited to just 500 copies and delivered to purchasers on February 13, 2020. Vertigo will never be available commercially or digitally in any other format beyond these initial 500, which will be delivered in a single package containing a vinyl LP, CD, digital download code, and DVD.
