Ted Bundy Biopic Featuring Metallica’s James Hetfield Debuts on Netflix

The movie based on the life of famed Serial Killer Ted Bundy, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, And Vile, has debuted on Netflix and it is creepy as hell, just like real life Ted Bundy was. Directed by Academy Award nominee Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost), he cast Metallica’s James Hetfield in the role of Officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car. We’ve seen the film and Hetfield is solid in the brief role in just two scenes. While Hetfield has played himself in other films and television productions and participated in many documentaries, this is his first dramatic role ever outside of music videos. The film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on and screened last night at The Tribeca Film Festival. Joe Berlinger has been familiar with Hetfield since he directed the Paradise Lost documentary series, co-directed the Metallica documentary film Some Kind of Monster, and co-wrote the book about the doc, Metallica: This Monster Lives. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil stars Zac Efron in a chilling turn as Bundy and tells the story of him and his longtime girlfriend, played by Lily Collins, who at the time had no knowledge of the crimes. The project was announced by Voltage Pictures at Cannes 2017. Watch the new trailer, right now! Continue reading
