Light Years Streaming Music Video For “My Whole Life”

light years temporary ASR-044-Cover-300

Light Years is streaming the music video for “My Whole Life”, off of their new one-sided 12 inch EP with screenprinted B-side Temporary, out now via Animal Style Records, here.

Pop-punk may be a young person’s game most of the time, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for growth – or for grown-ups. Light Years are here to prove that. The band have graduated from the teenage angst that fuels most of their peers, instead turning their focus to the problems that face them in their mid-20s. I Won’t Hold This Against You, their 2013 debut LP released via Paper + Plastick Records, dwelled on the inescapable past while looking for ways to heal the scars incurred while coming of age. Now working with Animal Style Records, Light Years will release a new five-song EP titled Temporary. The EP, recorded with Will Yip, is a quick, 16-minute blast of blisteringly paced punk-rock showcasing the band sinking their teeth into evolving musicianship and offering up a meaty effort full of hooky choruses, full-bodied guitars and a pounding rhythm section. Temporary is bound to please fans of blink-182, Fenix TX and New Found Glory who are looking for a new undertaking to completely submerge themselves into, rather than a quick listen to forget about later.

Die Choking Streaming “Tonsil” Video

die choking

Philadelphia extreme metallers Die Choking is streaming their video for “Tonsil” here, off their new EP II, out now via The Compound Records.

The new 7″ was recorded and mixed at Mark It Zero Studios with Dan O’Hare (Brutal Truth) — harnessing all music in one day and all vocals in another — and mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, Baptists, Code Orange Kids) at AudioSiege, and the artwork and layout created by guitarist Jeffrey V. Daniels. The EP is pressed on thick virgin red vinyl in a run of 300 copies, each one including the functioning personal living will, coinciding with “Tonsil.”

Said bassist/vocalist Paul Herzog:

“This song is a dedication to the memory of Jahi McMath who died on December 12th 2013. Despite the absolute, irreversible nature of brain death she (as far as I know) remains on ‘life’ support. The controversy of this is obvious but my interest is geared more towards the broader subject of CHOICE in regards to medical treatment during end of life scenarios… I love fantasy, horror, and sci-fi just like the next guy. For DIE CHOKING, as an outlet for me, I don’t want to create fiction or fantasy… I want to help and advocate. The subject in ‘Tonsil’ is universal and transcends politics, it is about the reality and potential severity of the death and dying process. This process, although, can be grounded in peace and serenity. It is often centered on resistance, aggression and a frequently indecisive routine of extensive medical and surgical processes. If I can help someone handle and make the important decisions that need to be made then I can feel like I am doing some good in a very sick world.”

Die Choking will be recording in April their debut LP at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA to record with Will Yip (Lauryn Hill, Circa Survive, Blacklisted, Cop problem) to engineer and mix the album.
