Die Choking Recording Debut Full Length Album

Philadelphia thrash-grindcore trio Die Choking has completed writing 13 new songs and will be entering Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA in early April to begin recording their debut full length with producer Will Yip (Lauryn Hill, Circa Survive, Blacklisted, Cop Problem). Stream the video with band drummer Joshua Cohen (also of Cop Problem) here.

Stream the music video for “Tonsil” below.

Die Choking shoved their second EP of hyperactive, earthmoving grind/thrash down the world’s collective throat, with II. Comprised of members previously/currently hailing from other acts Total Fucking Destruction, Cop Problem, Burden and more, the band follows up their self-titled debut EP with another five tracks in less than six minutes, the material swarming with even more enraged and psychotic songwriting, and more of an ominous powerviolence approach, while stepping things up in the songwriting department and delivery on all levels. II was recorded and mixed at Mark It Zero Studios with Dan O’Hare (Brutal Truth) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, Baptists, Code Orange Kids) at Audiosiege. The 7″ is 300 copies on vibrant red vinyl, each copy joined by a document that function’s as a real, personal Living Will, in the theme of the closing track, “Tonsil.” Fans of Wormrot, Brutal Truth, Human Remains, Magrudergrind and Noisear don’t walk away without it.

The band has a string of upcoming live dates:

Mar 26: Main Manor – New Castle, DE (w/ Artificial Brain, Traitor, Wojtek, Vicious Embrace)
Mar 27: Ottobar – Baltimore, MD (w/ Artificial Brain, Mother Brain, Kreig, Occult 45) – all ages

Light Years Touring With Bonfires and Dryjacket

Light years bonfires dryjacket spring tour YadmatDates-400

Cleveland rockers Light Years will be touring with Bonfires and Dryjacket on their upcoming Spring tour. Stream “My Whole Life” here.

They are in support of their newest release the Temporary EP, out now via Animal Style Records. The EP is a one-sided 12″ with screenprinted B-side. You can purchase digital and hear the EP in its entirety on Bandcamp.

light years temporary ASR-044-Cover-300

Pop-punk may be a young person’s game most of the time, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for growth – or for grown-ups. Light Years are here to prove that. The band have graduated from the teenage angst that fuels most of their peers, instead turning their focus to the problems that face them in their mid-20s. I Won’t Hold This Against You, their 2013 debut LP released via Paper + Plastick Records, dwelled on the inescapable past while looking for ways to heal the scars incurred while coming of age.

Now working with Animal Style Records, Light Years will release a new five-song EP titled Temporary. The EP, recorded with Will Yip, is a quick, 16-minute blast of blisteringly paced punk-rock showcasing the band sinking their teeth into evolving musicianship and offering up a meaty effort full of hooky choruses, full-bodied guitars and a pounding rhythm section. Temporary is bound to please fans of blink-182, Fenix TX and New Found Glory who are looking for a new undertaking to completely submerge themselves into, rather than a quick listen to forget about later.
