Tina Turner, who defined talent, power, grace, elegance, and much more as the first true woman singer of Rock music, has died. She was 83. According to a report from her publicity team, Tina died peacefully at home in Switzerland after a long illness. Originally, the singer of Rock pioneering band Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm, Turner rose to equal billing with Ike as part of the later renamed Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Later, escaping an abusive relationship (the narrative of her memoir and later Award-winning film What’s Love Got To Do With It. She had been in many films, including The Who’s seminal Rock musical album and film Tommy, and a Broadway musical of her life story Tina! Ran in the last few years. Both with Ike Turner, and her huge solo career as one of the dominant women artists of not just the 1980s, but of all time with “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine”, “River Deep – Mountain High”, “Proud Mary”, “Nutbush City Limits” “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, “Better Be Good to Me”, “Private Dancer”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and more.
