Wacken Open Air, Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, and Bang Your Head Festivals are All Canceled Over Coronavirus


 

Germany is home to the greatest metal festivals in the world including Wacken Open Air, Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, and Bang Your Head Festivals and now they are all canceled after the German federal government banned all major events in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced tentative steps to slowly start returning the country to normal, explaining that no large events such as soccer matches, concerts and festivals will be allowed before the end of August at the earliest. This comes in addition to personal lockdown, which has been extended through May 3. Wacken posted a message on their Facebook announcing the cancelation. Continue reading


Slipknot Books More Headline Dates for Their 2020 Headline Tour


Slipknot have announced two more headline dates in Germany in August 2020. The band will perform at Cologne’s Stadium on July 31st and at Berlin’s Waldbühne on August 7th. These are in addition to the already announced three shows in Hamburg, Berlin, and Dortmund in February. They will also perform at Wacken Open Air on August 1st. Tickets for the two new shows will be available via Samsung/Telekom pre-sale from 10am CET on Thursday 19th December, via Ticketmaster pre-sale from 12pm CET on Thursday 19th December, and will then go on general sale at 10am CET, Friday 20th December. Slipknot Announced as One of The Headliners of Wacken 2020


In a surprise post on Halloween, Slipknot has been announced as one of the headliners of Wacken Open Air 2020, along with Judas Priest and Amon Amarth. Slipknot is touring the world behind their global smash album We Are Not Your Kind (Roadrunner Records), released this past summer. The Punk Rock MBA has made a living (actually) on their ‘What Killed the Genre” series of videos on their YouTube channel. Now he has posted a new video making a case for the fact that Rock is Dying or already dead if you watch the video. He makes a fair, data-driven case. Of course, he is talking about mass appeal and popularity, the rock and metal underground has never been stronger in our opinion. Judas Priest Announces Wacken 2020 Headline Slot, 50th Anniversary Tour Kickoff


Judas Priest will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year and will kick off a celebratory world tour next spring/summer, which will include Wacken 2020. The venerable music festival will see the Priest headline along with Amon Amarth, Sodom (Agent Orange set), Mercyful Fate reunion tour, Hypocrisy, Death Angel, At The Gates (Slaughter of the Soul 25th anniversary set) Venom, Sick of It All, Beast in Black, Nervosa and many more to come! Life of Agony To Continue “River Runs Red” Story on New Album


Life of Agony is in the studio, recording their new album, due out later in 2019 via Napalm Records. After releasing an ominous teaser, the band has confirmed that their new album will be a continuation of the story of the teenager from their classic 1993 album River Runs Red (Roadrunner) story. The teaser asks “what if he survived”, which will be the concept of the album. The band has some tour dates booked, including a special show in New York with Overkill his May, and Wacken Open Air in August. River Runs Red turned twenty-five years old in 2018. The Hall of Heavy Metal History Metal Hall of Fame Gala takes place every winter around The NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. Hosted by television, radio personality and heavy metal champion Eddie Trunk (Trunk Nation That Metal Show), and will feature appearances by heavy metal greats of today and years past. The event will feature performances by legendary drummers and Hall of Heavy Metal History inductees Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice, as well as a performance by hard rock/punk icon Jean Beauvoir.
