FESTIVAL REVIEW: Adult Swim Festival

For just one weekend the Banc of California Stadium was transformed into a carnivalesque outdoor funhouse for the Adult Swim Festival. The stadium was alive with colorful distorted animations reminiscent of children’s cartoons and claymation scenes warped and hyperbolized beyond the mind’s comprehension, while a giant Meatwad dome sat across an even larger inflatable slide shaped like Morty’s head vomiting a rainbow.

Dethklok To Return To the Stage In 2019 at Adult Swimfest

Metal fans have mourned the loss of Brendon Small’s Metalocalypse television series and the real-life metal band that represented the music of the show Dethklok. The band will make its triumphant return and play its the first show in five years at the play the second annual Adult Swim Festival. The two-day event at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium. Tickets for the fest — scheduled for Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th — will go on sale to the public today at 12 p.m. PST. Tickets start at $49 and up. Continue reading

Gorillaz – With Vince Staples: Live At Blue Hills Bank Pavilion

It had been 7 years since the last time Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett better known for their virtual band Gorillaz had graced Massachusetts with their presence. So it made perfect sense that they had a sold out show at the 5000 capacity Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. Instead of hiding behind a backdrop and have the virtual animated characters be front and center, Albarn and Hewlett along with many guests, a choir, and full band performed over 20 songs encompassing their 19-year career over 5 full-length albums. Panorama Festival 2017 will take place at Randall Island in New York City from Friday, July 28 to Sunday, July 30. Headlining the festival are Frank Ocean, Solange, Tame Impala, alt-J, Nine Inch Nails, and A Tribe Called Quest. Other performers include: MGMT, Justice, Future Islands, Spoon, Tyler, the Creator, Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker), Nicolas Jaar, Belle and Sebastian, S U R V I V E, Angel Olsen, Vince Staples, and Cloud Nothings.
