Vile Creature Launches New Livestream Series


Epic Doom Metal band Vile Creature have launched a new livestream series and fully immersive interactive experience last night. If you missed the debut last night, the band will be in residency for the next few weeks and had the video of a choose your own adventure book mixed with heavy music. It was brilliant. There’s a suggested donation of $7, but no one will be turned away. There was also exclusive merch and new variants of their recent release, the excellent Glory, Glory! Roadburn 2020 Officially Canceled, Next Year’s Festival Announced


 

Roadburn Festival has exhausted all thoughts of holding a festival in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They have announced that Roadburn 2021 will take place on 15-18 April 2021. Tickets purchased for the 2020 edition will remain valid and fans can just show up next year and enjoy the festival. Announcements about the lineup are forthcoming, and in terms of bands returning for 2021, it looks promising. Roadburn is far and away the best and most vital underground metal festival in the world, Roadburn has announced that the festival is postponed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. The fest was scheduled for April 16th and 19th in Tilburg, NL. Curators for 2020 were scheduled to be Emma Ruth Rundle and James Kent (Perturbator) with commissioned pieces including James Kent & Johannes Persson (Cult of Luna), Jo Quail Presents “The Cartographer”, Vile Creature & Bismuth: “A Hymn Of Loss And Hope, and a career-spanning set from Julie Christmas, which included new music-making a debut, and many more. Vile Creature signed with Prosthetic Records and released a compilation on their past work, Preservation Rituals earlier in 2019. At the same time, the Toronto-based, extreme Doom and Drone duo are laser-focused on the future, as they write and prepare for a highly-anticipated full-length label début, perhaps arriving in 2020. Charity Compilation “Riffs for Reproductive Justice” Surpasses $10K USD in the First 48 Hours


A charity compilation aimed at donating 100% of proceeds to the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAH: https://www.abortionfunds.org) and the Yellowhammer Fund (https://www.yellowhammerfund.org) has been a big success in just the first 48 hours. Riffs for Reproductive Justice is 33-track set includes artists from Hether Fortune, Closet Witch, Vile Creature, Sunrot, Dawn Ray’d and Racetraitor, Twin Temple, Svalbard, and special tracks include Cliterati’s cover of L7’s ‘Fast and Frightening,’ Fucked and Bound’s cover of Sonic Youth’s ‘Kool Thang’ and Thou’s cover of the Leadbelly classic, ‘In the Pines’, which they teased on social media earlier in the week. Organized by Activist and metal journalist Kim Kelly (ex-Noisey, Rolling Stone) who recently launched the Black Flags Over Brooklyn anti-facist music festival in Brooklyn, sees many of these acts who participated in the fest. Donation receipts will be posted in a Dropbox folder which will be shared with the bands and with anyone who requests access. Roadburn 2019 – A Fest of a Different Color


Roadburn, now in its 20th year, is a fest I had promised I would start going to many, many years ago but for one reason or another never did. This year I went and although it is like other music fests in some ways, I can say that it is equally unlike other fests in many other ways. Many of my personal experiences will not be akin to a standard festival goer due to the nature of what I do obviously but if you bear with me here I can explain some things that the average person should expect when and if they decide to go is on their list of priorities. FESTIVAL PREVIEW: ROADBURN 2019


 

Today is the day! After the pre-fest party last night, the sold-out Roadburn 2019 kicks off today, and for the next four days in Tilburg, Netherlands will smash you a full slate of bands. Major artists like Sleep, At The Gates, Thou, Cave In, Old Man Gloom, Daughters, Myrkur and more will perform in intimate settings you won’t see at any other festival. The fest even added last minute local artists Doodswens (Dutch for Deathwish), a two-piece black metal group that we’ll have our ears peeled for. Some of the the can’t miss groups include two sets by Sleep, three sets from Mono and the Jo Quail Quartet, Pharmakon, Crypt Trip, Emma Ruth Rundle, Twin Temple, Crowhurst, Hexvessel, Craft, Triptykon & Metrolope Orkest (new song performance ‘Requiem’) Drab Majesty, Street Sects, Bosse-De-Nage, Thou & Emma Ruth Rundle, Svalbard, Conjurer, Soft Kill, Imperial Triumphant, Cave, Birds In Row, Bossk, Coilguns, Old Man Gloom, Crowhurst & Gnaw Their Tongues, Ulcerate, Marissa Nadler, Wrong, Daughters, and many more.
