Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre’s MC5 Tribute Album (Alice Cooper, Jello Biafra, Phil Campbell and More) Out Now

On Friday February 2nd the Rock ’n’ Roll world was saddened the passing of “Brother” Wayne Kramer, founding member and guitarist of the legendary, influential Detroit band the MC5. Issued on Black Friday, 2023 via Saustex Records Call Me Animal: A Tribute to the MC5 was never intended as a send-off for Brother Wayne, but his untimely passing makes its recent release feel even more serendipitous. Conceived by Joey “Joecephus” Killingsworth, the album was several years in the making with his band/collective Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre and his production partner Dik LeDoux. Kramer himself participated in the project, laying down a smoking version of “Human Being Lawnmower” with Jello Biafra.

In a story Ghost Cult first reported on and continues to follow, Bill and Ted 3 aka Bill and Ted Face The Music will see the return of the pop culture and metal culture icons this year in their long in the works new movie from co-stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves. The film just dropped a new trailer in time for the virtual version of San Diego Comic-Con and now the film has a release date: September 1st in theaters (we hope) and On-Demand. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves return as Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan III and the band, Wyld Stallyns. We already know William Sadler has returned to play the role of Death. Sadly, George Carlin died in 2008 so he cannot reprise his crucial role of Rufus. The soundtracks to the first two films are the stuff of Metal and Rock legend, but no word yet on the makeup of the soundtrack. Dean Parisot, who helmed the acclaimed Fun With Dick and Jane well as hit TV shows such as Justified and Monkl is directing and original Bill & Ted I & II franchise writers, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have also returned.

Bill And Ted 3 Gets Tittle and Release Date

Big news from a story we have been following. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves announced today that the third movie in the Bill and Ted franchise is moving ahead! Bill and Ted Face The Music will release next summer, in 2020 via Orion Pictures with Winter and Reeves reprising their classic roles as Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted Theodore Logan. Thirty years ago this month the feel-good comedy Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (Orion Pictures) was released. On the surface, the film was a comedy about two SoCal teens who have to travel through time to write a term paper on history. Starring Winter and Reeves, along with comedy legend George Carlin. Hopefully, the soundtrack will mirror the first tow films and feature rock and heavy metal like to rock like Jane Wiedlin (The Go Go’s), Clarence Clemmons (Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band), Martha Davis (The Motels) and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). The soundtrack was solid with the debut single from Extreme, Tora Tora, Robbie Robb of Tribe After Tribe, and a track composed by the future band Nelson with an assist from Dweezil Zappa. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure spawned two sequels (the second has an incredible soundtrack), a live-action TV series, an animated TV series, and pop culture iconoclasm. Among the highly quotable film’s lines “party on!” was years before Wayne’s World became a thing. TContinue reading

Before Beavis and Butthead, before Wayne’s World, and before Airheads, there was Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted Theodore Logan. Thirty years ago the feel-good comedy Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (Orion Pictures) was released. On the surface, the film was a comedy about two SoCal teens who have to travel through time to write a term paper on history. Starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, along with comedy legend George Carlin, there was a lot of teen humor for a late 80s film, but it was also a heartfelt a film about good-natured dudes who play guitar and love rock music with the simple dream in life. That simple dream to play rock music builds a utopian world. Pretty damn cool. When the film came out, the times were pretty friendly to rock the Bill and Ted music had rockers in the film like Jane Wiedlin (The Go Go’s), Clarence Clemmons (Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band), Martha Davis (The Motels) and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). The film still holds up well today and is being celebrated with an honorary anniversary celebration. by the filmmakers and the fans.
