With no less than twenty-two studio albums behind them, NWOBHM legends Saxon are back again but with something a little different this time. Instead of just rummaging around in the attic for an old live recording, or throwing together a contractually obliged “Best Of…”, Barnsley’s finest have taken their time during lockdown to produce something a little more imaginative. Looking to the past, the band has recorded Inspirations (Silver Lining Music/Militia Guard), a collection of songs by artists who made an impact on them at the start of their musical journey. ALBUM REVIEW: MSG – Immortal



Celebrating 50 years in the music business, legendary guitarist Michael Schenker has recruited a wide selection of different musicians on the latest release, Immortal (Nuclear Blast), a hard-edged rock album that perfectly showcases his talent and versatility. With Ronnie Romero (Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow) acting as the main singer, the vocal side is bolstered by the likes of Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), the record’s co-producer Michael Voss (Mad Max) and former Rainbow frontman Joe Lynn Turner.

Weezer Surprise Releases Covers Record – “The Teal Album”


On the back of the international hit covers of Toto songs ‘Africa’ and ‘Rosanna’, Weezer has released a full covers album of 1980s megahits, pop rock earworms, 1990s RnB track, and one classic metal song! They announced the release on social media. Weezer is having a big year with their awesome cover of Toto’s 1980s classic ‘Africa’, which has become a cultural phenomenon. Now in a stroke of meta-levels of genius, watch the band as they parody their own first video ever, 1994s ‘The Sweater Song’, in the video for ‘Africa’. The clip, which is at times a shot for shot remake of the ‘The Sweater Song’ clip, also features Weird Al, as frontman Rivers Cuomo from that video, rocking his customary accordion.
