ALBUM REVIEW: Rancid – Tomorrow Never Comes


 

The most telling feature of Tomorrow Never Comes (Epitaph Records) is the cover. A band logo and four headshots are framed in a grid. It’s like seeing a novel that puts more emphasis on the well-known author instead of the book’s title, and it’s a testament to the longevity and the roots (radical) of Rancid, a band that’s been active since the early 1990s. Their tenth full-length focuses on the musical experience instead of a flashy album appearance.

Linkin Park, System Of A Down, The Offspring, Slayer, Deftones, etc Confirmed For Amnesia Rockfest 2015

The 10th edition of Amnesia Rockfest has announced Linkin Park and System of a Down will be headlining the Friday and Saturday nights of the event respectively. Tim Armstrong (Rancid) and Fat Mike (NOFX) are curators of the 10th anniversary edition.

The Offspring will be doing their album Americana in its entirety; Deftones performing their Around The Fur album in its entirety; and Rancid will be doing their And Out Come The Wolves set.

Some of this year’s new features include having several comedians such as Tom Green, Steve-O from Jackass (first Quebec appearance in 10 years, since the 2004 riot at the Metropolis) and Mike Ward. Several other surprises and secret performances are in store for festival-goers.

Amnesia Rockfest 2015 Adds More Acts To Lineup

The 10th edition of Amnesia Rockfest has announced their latest additions to perform. The event will be held from June 18 to 21, 2015, in Montebello, Quebec, Canada.

Rancid will be performing …And Out Come The Wolves in its entirety for the 20th anniversary of the album’s release. Refused and From Autumn To Ashes will both be reuniting, as well as Ministry’s first Quebec show in seven years.

Anti Flag Releasing American Spring via Spinefarm Records in May

Pittsburgh punk rock iconolasts Anti-Flag will be releasing their new album American Spring on Spinefarm Records in May.

American Spring, produced by AWOLNATION’s Kenny Carkeet, Jim Kaufman (Funeral for a Friend, Skindred, Helmet) and Anti-Flag, features a cameo from fellow punk legend Tim Armstrong of Rancid, who appears on the song “Brandenburg Gate,” while Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is featured on “Without End.”

The band’s January 19 show at The Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, N.C. will feature the band performing the classic album The Terror State in its entirety and will be live-streamed as part of Yahoo concert series where fans can stream a show a day for free 365 days a year, all from the comfort of their couch. A new supergroup is in the works, according to Skinhead Rob, which features himself with Nausea members John John Jesse (New Found Glory), Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour, Amebix) and Vic Venom (Regan Youth), and Tim Armstrong (Rancid).

Via Twitter, Skinhead Rob stated:

“New band in the works. John John Jesse, Roy Mayorga, Vic Venom, Tim Armstrong, and me. #ZERST�-REN”

No word on Zerst Ren is the band’s name, the album title or the Germanic word for “To Destroy.”
