Shane MacGowan, Singer-Songwriter Best Known for The Pogues, Has Died

According to published reports, Shane MacGowan, best known for his turn as the leader of Anglo-Celtic Punk Rock band The Pogues, has died. He was 65. He was unwell for a long time with medical problems, as well as MacGowan also had well-documented problems with drugs and alcohol. The news of his passing was shared by his wife. A statement from MacGowan’s spokesperson confirmed he “died peacefully at 3.30am this morning (30 November) with his wife and sister by his side”. “Prayers and the last rites were read during his passing,” he added. The musician, whose hits include 1987’s Fairytale of New York and A Pair of Brown Eyes was acclaimed as artists for multiple decades. RIP.

Darryl Hunt, Bassist For Legendary Celtic Punk Band The Pogues Has Died


Sad news as legendary bassist Darryl Hunt of Celtic Rock/Punk band The Pogues, has died. He was 72. No cause of death has been revealed at this time. The band’s official page broke the news on social media “We are saddened beyond words. Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London.” In addition, his former bandmates and friends Shane MacGowan and Spider Stacey, many peers and fans also commented on their loss. Hunt was an integral members of the band from 1986 through 1996 until their break up. RIP.
