Red Hot Chili Peppers postponed their concert for iHeart Radio due to the health of their frontman, Anthony Kiedis, who was rushed to hospital just moments before the band was scheduled to perform at a Californian festival over the weekend.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were forced to cancel their Saturday performance at the annual KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine at the last-minute after Kiedis was hospitalized. Keidis was at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre when he started feeling “extreme stomach pain.”

“No one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight,” Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith tweeted last night. “Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers issued the following statement concerning Kiedis‘s condition: “Due to Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th. They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes. Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.”

No word on whether the band will be able to perform at Rock On The Range this coming weekend or other US shows on their itinerary. The band is also slated to tour Europe starting June 3rd. The Chili’s new album, The Getaway (Warner Brothers), will début June 17. Produced by Rick Rubin, the albums’ the first single, ‘Dark Necessities’, premiered earlier this month.
