As you would expect from such divergent backgrounds, Sometimes Y is an eclectic record that is largely rock but takes many a wide and varied detour.

Stranger Things Season 3′s much-hyped season debuted on Netflix overnight, ready to satiate the fans ready to binge the season. Following the sci-fi escapades of the gang from Hawkins, Indiana, we’re excited for what the season brings hopefully not the last as has been rumored lately. In addition to another incredible soundtrack scored by composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who make up one half of the synth band SURVIVE, the 1980s soundtrack kicks into high gear with memorable songs from Madonna, Devo, Corey Hart, Cutting Crew, The Stray Cats, The Cars, Huey Lewis, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Jim Croce, The Go-Gos and much more in just the first few episodes we watched. The Night Flight Orchestra – Sometimes The World Ain’t Enough


Formed in 2006, and including members past and present of Soilwork, Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars, are The Night Flight Orchestra. Despite their heavy origins they are anything but, this Swedish sextet are enamoured with the sounds of the late 70’s and early 80s – so expect big riffs, huge choruses, corny lyrics and artery-clogging amounts of cheese. Byzantine – The Cicada Tree


The last seventeen years have been a rocky old road for West Virginians, Byzantine. Formed in Charleston in 2000, the band have undergone numerous changes in personnel, and split up on more than one occasion. Records have had to be released independently, and although the recording sessions for latest album The Cicada Tree (Metal Blade) ran smoothly enough, the process was hindered slightly by the full time work commitments of the members. Not to be disheartened, the band took the unusual step of recording the guitar solos and vocal sessions via a live stream on the internet. For a couple of hours a night, fans were able to interact with the band, even proposing different ways to play certain parts.Continue reading
