Bohemian Rhapsody, the music biopic about the band Queen and the life and times of frontman Freddie Mercury won two Gold Globes awards last night. The film, directed by Dexter Fletcher, was named best drama at the 76th annual awards, while actor Rami Malek won the best actor award for his portrayal of Mercury. Queen members and executive producers on the film Dr. Brian May and Roger Taylor were also on hand and spoke to the media at the event. Malek beat out such stars as Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, John David Washington in BlacKkKlansman, Lucas Hedges in Boy Erased and Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate. We don’t love award shows here at Ghost Cult, but it’s cool to see some light shed on the massive impact Queen and Freddie has made as one of the greatest bands ever.
