CONCERT REVIEW: Steel Panther – Moon Fever Live at The Machine Shop

The holiday season is here and the zany hair metal act Steel Panther is on the road to get you in the festive spirit. The LA glam group is on a short run titled the “On the Prowl Winter Holidaze” tour where they are supporting their latest album, On the Prowl (Republic Records) that came out earlier this year. One of their twelve tour stops includes Michigan’s Vehicle City. Flint is home to the independent and nationally acclaimed music venue, The Machine Shop. This iconic concert hub was an optimal choice to host this racy, yet lovable group of stylishly bold fellas for two nights in a row. Everyone forgot the dreary December cold as they entered the small-sized venue where these fiery, comedic rockers sizzled things up.Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Sophie Lloyd – Imposter Syndrome

YouTuber. If there was ever a word with the ability to separate people into two distinct age groups in less than a second, then this is the one. It’s a term that didn’t even exist twenty years ago, yet for some, it’s just another word used without a second thought. But for others, it’s the grating sound of hyperactive internet personalities desperately trying to keep the attention of their trend-obsessed subscribers by constantly shouting, screaming, waving their arms about and overreacting wildly to literally everything.

Limp Bizkit Shares Their New Deep Fake Music Video for “Out of Style” ft. the Faces of King Charles, Tom Cruise, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and More

Nu-Metal legends Limp Bizkit have dropped their deep fake and cult of personality-inspired video for “Out Of Style”. The lead track from their 2021 album Still Sucks. The second video to follow the hit “Dad Vibes” and directed by Fred Durst and Marc Klasfeld, the clip features the band playing the track in a garage with the faces of world leaders King Charles, Xi Jinping, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Kim, Jong Un, and others! Also depicted is Tom Cruise, grilling and wearing an apron that says “Woodstock” – trolling people who blame the band for the disastrous Woodstock 99 festival. The band is hitting the road for a series of headline shows and music festivals starting this spring in Europe. The band has also launched a direct-to-fans option to buy the album on limited CDs for the first time. Watch the video now!

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Download Festival 2022 Part II

My Saturday at Download began over at the main stage where I caught the retro new wave of classic rock act Those Damn Crows, a band who have amassed a significant following in Wales thanks to appearances at the likes of Steelhouse Festival and other rock-oriented affairs. Possibly one of the smallest acts to perform on the main stage this year, the band spared no expense offering a fantastic wake-up call with some unremarkable if solid hard rock tunes. The day’s proceedings then continued firmly in the rocky territory with a southern, slightly heavier twang with Black Label Society, in their first festival appearance on UK soil since 2015, and with less of Zakk Wylde’s expectedly lengthy and tiresome soloing. Don’t get me wrong, Zakk was still doing his usual thing, but with a much-needed addition of percussion, making the moments of instrumental wankery much more palatable than usual.

After a prolonged absence from the British metal scene courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic (save for a scaled-back pilot event in 2021), Leicestershire’s iconic summer rock, punk, and metal weekender, Download Festival returned to Castle Donnington in a maximalist blaze of glory, packing in a full-scale 5-day experience with some familiar favorites, hotly tipped up-and-comers and some of the best international acts that rock and metal scene has to offer.
