CONCERT REVIEW: GWAR – Goatwhore – Nekrogoblikon – The Native Howl Live at Starland Ballroom

I’ve never seen GWAR before, I’ve heard about their shows over the years. Now I finally get to experience it myself! Just as I was starting to shoot the second song of GWAR’s set, I took a shot of some fake blood to my right eye. I laughed as I noticed the camera condom took the brunt of it and my contact lens the rest. Continue reading

Static-X – Devildriver – Dope – Wednesday 13 – Raven Black: Live at Starland Ballroom

Static-X was one of the best bands to come out of the mid-late 1990s. Sure, they sprung to life during the Nu-Metal craze where every band that wasn’t a traditional heavy metal or death metal was labeled “Nu”. However, Static-X had the DNA of great Industrial Metal bands, pure and simple. When Wayne Static died in 2014, it seemed like the band as an active entity would pass out of existence, although we’d always have the songs. Great songs stand the test of time, and that’s not just lip service, it’s an undeniable truth. So when the notion of the remaining living founding members of the band coming together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip (Warner Bros), it seemed like the right time. The creation of a new album of tracks featuring Wayne supported by the fans is just a bonus. This entire tour and album, both the idea of it and the execution of it witnessed on this night is a celebration and done with love and good intentions. Leave your cynicism at the door and prepare to throw down! Continue reading

Life Of Agony Prepares For German Tour, Major Announcement Pending

loa famiglia

In a series of post’s to their social media accounts members of Life of Agony have touted a major announcement coming soon. The band is preparing for a tour of Germany later this month, followed by UK tour dates in March, with more TBA throughout 2016. The band has launched a new official Facebook account dubbed “Life of Agony Famiglia”. The page had over 2,000 Likes within a few hours of going live. The band is coming off a big 2015, which saw them play sold-out performances in their hometown of Brooklyn and The Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, perform at Grasspop Metal Meeting and more. 2015 was also the 20th anniversary of the bands Ugly album (Roadrunner). It is presently unclear if the “big announcement” is more tour dates, a festival announcement, or another live release. The band has stated several times that while they have enjoyed the reunion shows, they have not been as interested in making a new music. In an interview with Ghost Cult in 2014, bassist Alan Robert remarked about the state of the reunion:

We are taking things a day at a time, a show at a time. We are all in a good place together, but also have other projects. If we do these shows in bits and pieces – they are more special and we all get along, we will want to keep doing more. We’ll see what the future holds.”
