God Damn Streaming “We Don’t Like You”

god damn

God Damn is streaming “We Don’t Like You,” off their new album Vultures, out May 12, 2015 in North America and May 11, 2015 internationally via One Little Indian, here.

Hailing from the West Midlands, God Damn is comprised of Thom Edward (guitars/vocals) and Ash Weaver (drums). Having released a handful of singles over the past few years, the duo took the British rock scene by storm with their sonic blasts of glorious noise, leading to them sharing stages with the likes of Eagulls, Pulled Apart By Horses, Icarus Line and The Wytches. God Damn even caught the attention of UKs The Guardian, who praised their ability to blend the hard rock era of the early 70s, the U.S. hardcore bands of the early 80s, the early 90s grunge era and possibly more… With Vultures, however, God Damn somehow enhances its red-hot burning molten pot of pop hooks and grinding, bludgeoning riffs and rhythms.

Haust Releasing Bodies March 10th, Streaming “Light”

haust

Norwegian punk/black metal hybrid Haust is releasing their fourth album Bodies on March 10, 2015 via Fysisk Format Records (Arabrot, Kollwitz). They will be making an appearance at South By Southwest as well as a string of US dates to be announced soon.

HAUST SXSW APPEARANCES
Mar 19: “Oya Festival” Cedar Street Courtyard – Austin, TX (SXSW)
Mar 20: Icenhauer’s (SXSW) – 1:00am slot – Austin, TX

More than a work of pure aggression, Bodies offers Haust’s most complex and varied work to date. The chainsaw guitars, untethered fury and grimly screeched vocals are still very much in place. However songs are now augmented by unexpected strains of psychedelia, noise rock and avant-melodicism throughout.

This release features the addition of guitar wonder Trond Mjøen (Haraball, Ulver). It also boasts a guest appearance from Henning Wisth of Okkultokrati as well as contributions from Milton Von Krogh of Pirate Love.

Von Hertzen Brothers and The 69 Cats Performing at South By Southwest’s Music Finland

music finland 2015

Music Finland will be represented at South By Southwest in Austin, TX by Von Hertzen Brothers and The 69 Cats at this year’s edition. Von Hertzen Brothers will be performing at The Trophy Club on March 18, 2015 at 11 pm and the 69 Cats showcase is on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Lucky Lounge at 10 pm.

The Von Hertzen Brothers are bonded by blood and their music shows this connection. Formed in 2000 in their hometown of Helsinki, their progressive rock has topped the charts with their last four albums. All have been certified gold in their native Finland and in 2012 they were nominated Best New Band Award at Classic Rock Magazines annual awards show and in the New Blood category at the Classic Rock Prog awards.

The 69 Cats came about when Jyrki69, the singer of The 69 Eyes, had an idea. His Helsinki-based gothnroll band had been playing their unique music for a quarter century and at their occasional acoustic shows the singer was able to show his rockabilly roots and Elvis-like voice. Fans were overwhelmed and begged for more.

Years later he was introduced to Danny B. Harvey, the guitar hero whose past bands include Rockats and recently the Lemmy-fronted Headcat. They immediately worked out a number of cover songs that needed resurrection and recruited the Cramps bass player Chopper Franklin to this new dark rockabilly supergroup.

HSY Streaming “Sally”

Toronto sludge punk outfit HSY is streaming “Sally” here. Formed in 2011 and almost two years later with their first incarnation with a full lineup, they recorded their self titled 2013 debut EP via Buzz Records.

Releasing the AA-side, Cyber Bully b/w Phantasm Blast via Too Pure and Buzz, HSY ventured to the UK in 2014 and offered a nerve-shredding introduction to their unique brand of filth.

Joined by Anna (Vocals, Guitar), Link (Bass) and Kat (Drums), HSY harkens to the 80’s post punk vibes of Section 25 and 90’s sludge metal gods The Melvins, crafting the perfect soundtrack for Toronto’s seedy underbelly.

HSY will be playing at South By Southwest and playing these shows.
