Jack White (The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, Third Man Records) was the last-minute musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night and used it to pay tribute to Eddie Van Halen, who died last week at age 65. Not only did White play an EVH model guitar, his solo during the song “Lazaretto” featured two-hand tapping, which Eddie made famous the world over.
Alternative rock and punk legend David Byrne was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL) last night, and set the small screen ablaze by performing his classic song from his Talking Heads days, ‘Once In a Lifetime’. The show was hosted by comedian John Mulaney. Talking Heads had been a guest at the height of their fame last in 1989, but Byrne has been a musical guest over the years. Ten Bands One Cause are teaming up with artists such as Metallica, Mastodon, GWAR and others to reissue their music on pink vinyl for the fourth annual event. The initiative has raised over $144,000 for Gilda’s Club NYC, an organization that provides community support for both those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers. Continue reading
