Chris Cornell’s Wife Sues Soundgarden Members Over Royalties and Rights to Music

In a new report by TMZ Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell has filed a lawsuit that claims the remaining living members of Soundgarden are withholding hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties owed to her and Chris’s minor children. She calls the move an “unlawful attempt to strong-arm Chris’ Estate into turning over certain audio recordings created by Chris before he passed away.” Interest in new music is said to be high from their fanbase, and the band is currently nominated for entry into the 2020 class of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

Def Leppard Live At Arena Birmingham, UK

With so many rock and metal acts playing entire albums in full these days, it was only a matter of time before the band responsible for one of the biggest (and longest) records of all time decided to give it a go themselves. Selling over twenty-five million copies worldwide, the idea for Def Leppard to play 1987’s Hysteria (Phonogram/Mercury) in its entirety began in 2012 when the band were offered an eleven date residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, which they played during March and April of 2013.Continue reading

Bruce Dickinson Believes That Iron Maiden Should Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Currently, on his best-selling book tour worldwide, Iron Maiden frontman and heavy metal legend Bruce Dickinson was asked by a fan at the October 19 Melbourne, Australia stop of his current spoken-word tour if he thinks Maiden should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, located in Cleveland, Ohio. Bruce responded “Absolutely.” Then he added: “I actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter and complete load of bollocks, to be honest with you. It’s run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face. They need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking fucking beer.” The Rock Hall announced its nominees for 2019 last week and as always it seems that hard rock and heavy metal bands get overlooked, including Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Watch Bruce’s comment below. Continue reading

Former Lynyrd Skynyrd Guitarist Ed King Dies, Age 68

Sad news as former Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King has died. He was 68. No cause of death for King was released, but he was reportedly been battling lung cancer and had recently been hospitalized for some time. King’s family confirmed his passing on his Facebook page. They wrote: “It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Ed King who died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on August 22nd, 2018. We thank his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career.” King was an incredible guitar player and songwriter who first gained fame as a founding member of psychedelic rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock (‘Insense And Peppermints’) before joining Skynyrd. With Skynyrd, he co-wrote their signature song, ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, played on their seminal first three albums Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd (1973), 1974’s Second Helping (1974) and Nuthin’ Fancy (1975). He played with the band from 1972 to 1975, and again from 1987 to 1996 and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006.
