Red Hot Chili Peppers Will Release a New Double Album – “Return Of The Dream Canteen”


Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced they will release their second album of 2022, Return Of The Dream Canteen, on October 14th, 2022. The album will drop only six months after the release of Unlimited Love, out now. Produced with Unlimited Love, and frequent RHCP collaborator Rick Rubin. Rubin also produced 1991s Blood Sugar Sex Magik and 1999s Californication. Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis and Flea announced the new album from the stage at a sold-out concert at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado Saturday night, July 23rd, the first night of the bands current World Tour. Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed the details of their 2022 world tour of stadiums. The band shared another humorous video teaser the fictional KHOT station. In the video, the station’s presenters (aka RHCP singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith) interviewed John Frusciante about the prospect of the tour, the follow up to an earlier announcement last month. Metallica performed its classic song “Nothing Else Matters” with pop star Miley Cyrus on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” yesterday morning (Thursday, September 9). You can watch video of the performance below. Miley’s appearance was in celebration of release of the remastered deluxe box set of Metallica’s self-titled fifth album and also features Elton John, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, frequent collaborator Andrew Watt and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Appearing via video link, Elton told Howard his decision to play piano on the star-studded cover was an absolute “no-brainer.” “This is one of the best songs ever written, to me. It’s a song that never gets old. Playing on this track I just couldn’t wait because the chord structure, the melodies, the time changes — it’s got drama written all over it,” he said. Having stayed with Black Sabbath until 1983’s unfairly criticised Born Again (Vertigo) album, founding member Geezer Butler returned to the band in the early nineties but with a growing desire to prove himself as a solo artist. After leaving again in ’94, the iconic bass player and moustache enthusiast teamed up with former frontman Ozzy Osbourne for a while before eventually going it alone to form G/Z/R.
