Tom Morello Responds to Fan Complaints of Rage Against The Machine’s High Ticket Prices

Fans of Rage Against The Machine were elated at the announcement of the return of the much-missed band for 2020. However, following the news that the band has booked a world tour this week, some expressed outrage at the high cost of tickets for the headline shows. Fans and haters have slammed the band, known for their activism and protests for being greedy at the high cost for shows (non-festivals). The band took some measures against scalpers as they have bought 10% of all the tour tickets to ensure those tickets are sold from the band – at a premium cost, but the extra money going to charity. In the midst of all of this, RATM guitarist and activist Tom Morello has taken to Twitter to assure fans that the high cost of tickets is due to scalpers and resellers. Tom claims that the full price for all tickets tops out at $125.00 USD. A high cost, for sure, but lower than many other concert tickets to other tours in 2020. Continue reading

UPDATED: Is Rage Against the Machine Plotting a Comeback?

UPDATE: This rumor was confirmed an hour later via Forbes Magazine. This is strictly a Friday morning, water cooler rumor at this point, but there are indications, co-signed by Tom Morello on Instagram, that Rage Against The Machine may have booked a string of dates for spring 2020. An account popped up and posted dates at midnight on November 1st. A quick glance at Morello’s account has a post from earlier in the week, about the uprising in Chile. He tagged the leading fan source for RATM (they have been accurate in the past with intel about the related RATM projects). That page, @war_within_a_breath claims the band has booked the dates you can see below. Curiously the two April dates fall over the same weekends as Coachella 2020, which would be a no brainer for headline sets from the band. The last time RATM played together was July 2011, at Uprising Festival. Tomorrow is actually the 20th anniversary of their final original album, The Battle of Los Angeles (Epic Records). 2020 marks the anniversary of the covers album Renegades. Take this post with a LARGE grain of salt, but we’d love to see and hear a reunited Rage Against the Machine in 2020!

More details about the bands’ new album, their third will be announced soon as well. “In light of the recent gun violence, we’ve got a very timely song that we’re gonna put out hopefully in the next couple of days,” he said. “Then beyond that, I think for PROPHETS OF RAGE, this will be our third studio record and really the one where I think we have to define who we are in 2019 and beyond, rather than just sort of a coming together of groups with notable catalogs, to really find our own sound and to continue to grow.”Continue reading
