Pixies Enter The Studio To Record New Album, Launching a Podcast Series

Legendary Alternative Rock darlings the Pixies have entered the studio with famed producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Opeth, Therapy?, Royal Blood) to record their next album, due out in September 2019. The eighth Pixies album and the second with their new lineup, the as yet untitled album was written over 2018 and recorded in December at Dreamland Recordings near Woodstock, NY. In an unprecedented move, the band is going to share their creative process and album behind the scenes in a series of podcasts, coming this summer. Pixies teamed up with Signal Co. No1, the New York-based podcast company that focuses on music culture. Starting June 27, a 12-episode weekly audio podcast, “Past is Prologue, Pixies” will debut with a new installment each week leading up to the album’s release. Hosted and narrated by New York Times best-selling author Tony Fletcher, the series will be available globally on these podcast platforms: Apple, Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, Google, and more. Check out the trailer for the series now. Pixes celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of their acclaimed album Surfer Rosa in 2018 and Ghost Cult has been following the band closely post-reunion, so we are definitely excited about new Pixes music. So it may come as a surprise to learn that this grunged explosion comes courtesy of John Henry of Metalcore savages Darkest Hour, accompanied by Chad Fjerstad (Dead To Fall) and Andrew Black (The Explosion), a project you’d, like me, have been forgiven to have expected to be churning something more crusty or Hardcore based.Continue reading

However, as we approach the one-year anniversary of his passing, it seems like an entirely apposite moment to pause for a moment. To reflect and consider in our ADHD, always on culture about the power, influence, and imagination of The Thin White Duke.Continue reading
