ALBUM REVIEW: Lamb of God – Omens


 

At this stage in their career, Lamb of God can pretty much do what they want, when they want. And the Virginia natives have found a winning formula with their sound, which has been honed over nearly thirty years since they began life as Burn The Priest. Since the name change at the beginning of the millennium, Lamb of God have proven themselves as one of the premier contemporary metal bands, progressing from their earlier more death metal style, into the kings of modern groove metal, which has seen multiple Grammy nominations and some almighty tours including this year’s monster outing with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, which they are about to follow up with the likes of Killswitch Engage, Baroness, Spiritbox and Suicide Silence in support. Guitarist Marzi Montazeri Has Quit Exhorder


Guitarist Marzi Montazeri has quit Exhorder. Montazeri shared the news of his exit in a social media post, which you can see below. He joined Exhorder in 2017 following stints with Pantera vocalist Philip Anselmo’s projects Superjoint and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. He wrote and toured behind the Exhorder comeback album Mourn The Southern Skies, in September 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Thomas confirmed in an interview with Ghost Cult last fall that the band had begun writing a new album. Continue reading

Rex Brown Dismisses Idea that Zakk Wylde Would Ever Take Part in a Pantera Reunion


In a report by Metal Sucks, Rex Brown has given a new interview to eonmusic in which he was asked about the possibility of a Pantera reunion without Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, if it was possible, and whether the constant calls from fans to have Zakk Wyle take Dimebag’s place. Rex says that any Pantera project could only be a tribute and not an official reunion without the brothers. He commented that the band would be enormous if the brothers had lived and that he and Philip Anselmo receive offers for arena shows. And finally, he remarked that Zakk would not be in consideration for even a tribute tour, and that is his definitive answer on that.

Down Announces Twenty-Fifth Anniversary NOLA Full-Length With Exclusive Livestream


Stoner Metal supergroup Down has announced a livestream concert to commemorate 25 years since the release of Nola (Electra). The band will play the full debut album at The Quarter Century Throwdown, the high production, multi-camera event will take place August 29th at 6:00pm EST using cutting-edge streaming technology to create a one-of-a-kind virtual concert experience. The show will be rebroadcast August 30th at 6:00pm EST until September 1st at 6:00pm EST. 10% of ticket sales will be donated to the United Houma Nation (UHN), a state-recognized tribe of approximately 17,000 members residing within a six-parish (county) service area encompassing 4,570 square miles. The six parishes — Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, St. Mary, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines — are located along the Southeastern coast of Louisiana. Within this area, distinct tribal communities are situated among the interwoven bayous and canals where Houmas traditionally earned a living. Pantera Crosses The One Billion Streaming Mark


Pantera has shared a post to social media thanking fans for the band reaching 1 Billion streams across platforms such as (in alphabetical order) Amazon, Apple, Deezer, Google, and Spotify. The band joins notable recent bands such as Metallica, Guns N Roses, and Nirvana with over one billion streams. Pantera was founded in 1981 and released nine studio albums total and a live album (not counting compilations and boxed sets), coming to prominence with their fifth and major-label debut, Cowboys From Hell.
