CLASSIC ALBUMS REVISITED: Between the Buried and Me – Alaska
I assume it’s easy to look back at the aughts and be dismissive of the entire decade particularly from the perspective of metal or punk fan. Nu-Metal was slowly being phased out as any goodwill from the previous decade had eroded and acts like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte made everyone realize that maybe the idea of Pop-Punk was a mistake. But those who kept their ear close to the ground knew better than to become jaded. Hard rock was alive and well and young bands were doing very exciting things. Young bands like Between the Buried and Me with their seminal Alaska (Victory Records 2005/Craft Recordings 2020).
Deftones, Faith No More, System of A Down, Judas Priest, Puscifer, Korn and More to Headline Hellfest 2021
Hellfest Open Air recently completed its first-ever online streaming festival. Hopefully, the real thing is coming back next summer! The venerable metal and rock fest announced their lineup for 2021, with most of the bands slated to have played in 2020, but canceled due to COVID-19. Deftones, Faith No More, System of A Down, Judas Priest, Puscifer, Korn, Volbeat, Opeth, Dropkick Murphys, Northlane, Deep Purple, Wardruna, Rival Sons, Devin Townsend, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more will perform. Ten more bands will be added soon. Thirteen bands slated to play in 2020, but cannot attend 2021 include Incubus, Mastodon, Infectious Groove, Thy Art Is Murder, Alter Bridge, Baby Metal, Joyous Wolf, Unleashed, Meshuggah, The Black Dahlia Murder, Periphery, Body Count and August Burns Red.Continue reading
COVID-19 Crowdfunding Campaign Launched to Support The Worcester Palladium and The Webster Theater

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to support the employees of both The Worcester Palladium and Webster theatre, two venues in New England that have been hosts to thousands of metal, hardcore, and rock shows and countless other events for decades. Both venues are operated by Mass Concerts, and the fundraiser is to bring relief aid to their workers due to the cancellation from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In addition to hosting now retired events such as The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and the Rock N Shock Convention, last years amazing Self Help Fest by A Day To Remember the venues have hosted bands such as Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Chelsea Grin, Ensiferum, Evanescence, Eyes on Satellites, Fall Out Boy, Fathom Farewell, Four Year Strong, Gov’t Mule, Gwar, Hatebreed, Ice Nine Kills, In Honor Of, Jerry Garcia Band, Jimmy Eat World, Kanye West, King Diamond, Korn, Logic, Motionless in White, My Chemical Romance, Nightwish, Of Mice & Men, Periphery, Protest the Hero, Reveille, Rob Zombie, Senses Fail, Sic Vita, Slayer, Sonata Arctica, Soundgarden, Straight Line Stitch, Suicide Silence, Twelve Foot Ninja, Twenty One Pilots, Tyler The Creator, Whitechapel, Wiz Khalifa, and Years Since the Storm. Periphery Extends “Hail Stan” Tour Dates into 2020
Periphery has booked additional tour dates supporting their North American tour, extend the outing, adding a Winter 2020 swing through the U.S. with festivities kicking off on Jan. 30 in San Francisco. Plini and Covet open on all non-festival dates. Tickets are on-sale this Friday at 10 am local time.

Having already reviewed Whitechapel this year, it seems only fitting that a new After The Burial record would come along so soon after. Whilst not being in the same sphere of musical style at all both bands are at a similar point in their careers.
