CONCERT REVIEW: The Misfits – Megadeth – Fear Live at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre

I am not going to say that reunion tours are not shameless cash grabs. Up to this point, KISS and Bauhaus are the only bands successful at luring me out to them. However, The Misfits were an equally important part of my youth. The mere thirty-minute drive into Tampa, was too tempting, despite my lingering resentment with Danzig’s terrible Elvis tribute album. Going to an outdoor venue in Florida after May, added to the difficulty level of taking my misanthropic self into a 20,000-seat-capacity amphitheatre. Fear being on the bill provided more motivation, however thanks to misinformation regarding the start time at the venue and Tampa traffic, Fear had finished their set as I set foot into the venue.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone (link below), Glenn Danzig says “The Original Misfits” that have reunited and toured since 2016 have discussed a new live recording, according to Blabbermouth.net. When asked about the prospect of new Misfits music he responded: “Not right now. I know we have a show we have to do on May 4th, some festivals we’re headlining (the since canceled Domination Fest). But that’s it for a while, especially since Danzig’s going out this year.” Asked if he has thought about trying to do a live Misfits release or recording something, Glenn said: “Yeah, we’ll see. It’s something we’ve talked about.”

Danzig’s Elvis Presley Covers Album Due in April, World Tour Dates Planned

Danzig, often very low-key on social media, has updated the fans on the 2020 plans for the band. The post to Facebook filled in some details we previously broke the news about concerning the Verotika Blu-ray and Soundtrack release next month. The post promised the long-in the works Danzig sings Elvis Presley covers album that Jerry Cantrell worked on with the singer. “A few intimate” shows are said to be planned for that release. Danzig has hinted at more solo touring as he ramps up his film projects and winds down his work with the Original Misfits. Also, 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of Danzig II Lucifuge, and we heard in our recent interview with Tommy Victor (Prong) that he was expecting to be on the road with that tour this year and that activity might impact Prong. REVIEW: Psycho Las Vegas 2019 – Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

As far as large multi-day fests go, Psycho Las Vegas is still pretty wet behind the ears having only just had their fourth annual incarnation this August but already it has begun growing into what will likely continue to be the summer juggernaut of partying and music. New this year, to the dismay of many, was the location change from the off the strip and perfectly themed haunt, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, to the megaplex that is Mandalay Bay. Gone is the feeling of a true fest take over and in its place, a sprawling amalgamation of “psychos” and people from any town USA or abroad there simply to gamble, throw pre-wedding bashes, get drunk or maybe attend a conference (*ahem* “conference”). Once everyone got their bearings and navigated through this corporate mega casino/hotel/shopping mall, pushed back a few drinks or whatever preferred substances they were into, and found the locations of the four stages, the complaining ebbed and instead, people experienced the fest for what it is. A gigantic party with a great combination of bands playing for four days.Continue reading
