Tool’s new album Fear Inoculum finally arrives on August 30 via RCA. The band has confirmed the tracklisting for both the physical and digital release. The physical edition of the album will include seven songs, while the digial edition will contain 10 cuts, including the closer “7empest”, which is almost 20 minutes long. UPDATED: Tool Confirms New Album Release Date At Concert in Alabama

With the media, fans, and haters all falling all over the place trying to find a morsel of information about the new Tool album, it would be understandable if people are feeling a burnout before we actually get to a new album. Still, the fires have been stoked with Tool performing two new songs at last weekend’s Welcome To Rockville Festival. Well tonight at their first arena headline show of the current tour at Legacy Arena at the BJCC, Birmingham, Alabama, the band may have leaked the date of their new album release. Not only did they perform the two new songs again, ‘Descending (with vocals)’ and ‘Invincible’ again, at the end of the show the videos screens lit up with a giant block letter post “August 30th. That date is the final Friday of August and of course a “New Music Friday” as well. Images of this lit up social media from multiple people at the show, in spite of Tool’s anti-cell phone photo policy that has been in place for a decade and a half. This date has not been confirmed from the band, who are also notorious spreaders of their own misinformation. This even calls to mind the old Pink Floyd hoax from the 1990s. Still, we hope it’s true. Hopefully a formal announcement and official new UPDATE: The band has now shared a new social media update with this information, seemingly confirming the release date: singles will release very soon. Tool’s next show is May 8th at The YUM! Center in Louisville.
