Slipknot’s Manager Refutes Chris Fehn’s Claims in his Lawsuit

In a legal memorandum as part of Slipknot’s attempt to get the lawsuit against them by former percussionist Chris Fehn dismissed, their business manager Rob Shore refutes Fehn’s allegations that claim that he hasn’t been properly compensated for his years of touring with the group. Shore terms the claims made in the lawsuit as “out of proportion to the efforts and undivided interests of the other general partners.”. Ghost Cult broke the news last month, that practically broke the internet, that Slipknot had fired only their second member since 1999 on March 13th, after Joey Jordison. The only other departure from the band since they found mainstream success in 1999 was when co-founder and bassist Paul Gray passed away. Continue reading →


Chris Fehn Versus Slipknot: A Lawyer Analyzes The Case

The case by Chris Fehn against Slipknot has played out as expected in the music press with allegations and some mudslinging, and few details. We are not really privy to the back story and all the context about the relationships in the band that got us to this point. We are also not legal experts at Ghost Cult, so rather than speculate and guess, we asked a lawyer, Matthew Quigley, to analyze the lawsuit filed by Fehn and his lawyers with the State of New York, and give his own take on the finer points of the case. Chris Fehn’s Lawyer Says He Was Forced To Take Action Against Slipknot

We have been tracking the evolving case of now ex-Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn, dismissed from the group over a lawsuit over alleged unfair financial practices and pay. One of Fehn’s attorneys, Joseph Dunne, said Fehn learned of the other businesses during negotiations about the band’s upcoming sixth studio album and accompanying tour. He told the Des Moines Register in a report on the case,

“He thought everyone was being treated equally,” Dunne told the Des Moines Register. “My client really is just hoping to figure out a way to work this out with the people he’s worked side by side with for the last 20 years.”There is a lot of information out there that our client has not been able to see,”

New Details Emerge From Chris Fehn’s Lawsuit Against Slipknot

We now have a clearer picture of the full scope of Chris Fehn’s lawsuit against Slipknot. If you have been following the story here, Fehn alleges that the band has not paid him accurate for the over two decades he was a member of the band and that Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan, in particular, are to blame. Thanks to the music site and vlog Rock Feed, we now have the actual court documents, filed with the State of New York. Officially, Fehn’s lawsuit is filed against two different versions of “Slipknot, Incorporated”, a New York and a California corporation; Knot Merch LLC, Knot Touring LLC, SK Productions, LLC; Knot Touring LLC, M. Shawn Crahan aka Clown, Corey Taylor and Robert Shore, the band’s manager, as well as Shore’s law firm, Rob Shore & Associates, Inc. Slipknot Fires Chris Fehn Over Lawsuit Against The Band

In a story Ghost Cult reported on and has been following all week, Chris Fehn (a.k.a. #3) who filed a lawsuit against the members of Slipknot has been dismissed from the band, according to a post on their website. A day after Fehn filed suit against the band and alleged improprieties regarding payments for touring for over 21 years in the band and specifically naming Corey Taylor and M. Shawn Crahan primary instigators of said practices, Taylor hit back over social media. His message warned of reprisal and the truth was forthcoming. Now Chris has been dismissed from the band he was a part of since 1998. Fehn is not the first member to leave the band in their history or since their rise to fame, as Joey Jordison left the band in 2013, and Paul Grey who passed away in 2010. No word yet if the band will replace Fehn, a percussionist with the band. All traces of him have been cleaned from the Slipknot website. We’ll keep following this story as it develops. Corey Taylor Updates Fans On The Chris Fehn Lawsuit

We brought you the story yesterday of issues with Slipknot and their percussionist Chris Fehn (a.k.a. #3). He is suing the band, claiming he has been underpaid for years of touring since joining in 1998. According to the website The BLAST, Fehn’s lawsuit claims he has always been told that the money from merchandise and touring is funneled through one sole company that splits profits and pays the members of the band. However, Fehn claims he recently discovered that his bandmates have set up several other SLIPKNOT-affiliated business entities in different states that appear to be collecting money from the band. Fehn says he was unaware of the separate companies and claims to have never received a dime from them. He specifically singles out founder Shawn Crahan and leader Corey Taylor of bad business practices concerning Fehn. Taylor struck back surgically on Twitter yesterday promising the truth has yet to be uncovered, but also that Slipknot is strong despite the appearance of turmoil. Slipknot’s sixth and as yet untitled album is in progress and releases August 9th via the bands’ long-term label home Roadrunner Records.

Slipknot Is In The Studio, New Album Due Out Next Summer

As we have previously reported, Slipknot has a new album in the works, due next summer from Roadrunner Records, with a release date presently unknown. We got the first taste of it on Halloween with the surprise release of new single/video ‘All Out Life’. Now thanks to a post by Corey Taylor, we know the band is at work back in the studio. The band will support the album with a summer tour of Europe as well as an appearance at this year’s Iowa State Fair, so it’s a good bet the album will be done and released by then.
