What’s the best strategy when it comes time to record a follow-up to a critically acclaimed album like 2017’s Blood Offerings? Well, for Necrot it seems as simple as following the course. Yes, that approach on paper does come across a little reductionist and it may imply that Mortal (Tankcrimes) is merely a rehash. But while Necrot may not be reimagining the genre on Mortal they are serving up some of the most satisfying Death Metal today.
Bay Area death metal/punk trio Necrot today has shared another new single, “Asleep Forever,” from their frother coming new album, Mortal due out August 28th via Tankcrimes Records. Mortal was recorded by Grammy award-winning engineer Greg Wilkinson (High On Fire, Autopsy) and mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Mastodon) at West West Side. Most of the pre-orders sold-out quick but hopefully new stock is coming soon. The new record is the followup to the band’s last album, the acclaimed Blood Offerings.
