ALBUM REVIEW: Pale Waves – Unwanted


 

Making it clear from the outset that vibrancy (and guitars) are a key element of their third album, Pale Waves kick off Unwanted (Dirty Hit) hurtling straight into a vocal and guitar-strummed combo two-line tease of what is to come throughout the album. While opening track ‘Lies’ may spend most of its run-time stripped down to a funking bass and drum pattern playing under Heather Baron-Gracie’s catchy vocal lines, it flashes enough of a smile to let us know the six-string grin is back. ALBUM REVIEW: Ibaraki – Rashomon


Ibaraki is the new solo project from Trivium’s Matt Heafy, and Rashomon is released through Nuclear Blast, having been over a decade in the making. The name translates as “Wild Trees”, but is also taken from a terrifying Japanese demon of feudal legend, and the concept is a profound affirmation of Heafy’s Japanese-American heritage, incorporating a number of different musical styles. Although the main inspiration clearly sits within the black etal genre, taking influence from the experience of Emperor’s Ihsahn, who co-produced, and whose quirkier ideas from his solo work are peppered throughout the release. When We Were Young Festival 2022 Books My Chemical Romance, Paramore, AFI, Alkaline Trio, and More


Let’s take it way back to Warped Tour ca. 2004 as When We Were Young Festival has announced their 2022 lineup. A Punk, Emo, and Metalcore kids dream, the lineup includes headliners My Chemical Romance and Paramore. Other bands on the bill include Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, The Linda Lindas, Alkaline Trio, Thursday, AFI, Meet Me @ The Altar, Avril Lavigne, Senses Fail, The Wonder Years, ADTR, Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Motionless in White, Atreyu, Four Year Strong, Palaye Royale, Acceptance, Anberlin, Knocked Loose, Silverstein, Bright Eyes, Dance Gavin Dance and more are among the bands announced. The leading independent live entertainment producer and promoter Danny Wimmer Presents has announced the upcoming festival calendar for the year. The event lineup includes the return of fan favorites Louder Than Life and Welcome To Rockville, alongside the previously announced Aftershock, and new to the DWP family, Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival. Louder Than Life, the largest rock festival in America, will take place September 23-26, 2021 at Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky and will be adding a Thursday night celebration event to kick off the weekend. My Chemical Romance Rebooks Comeback Tour for 2021


One of the biggest stories in music in 2020 is the return of My Chemical Romance. With the coronavirus pandemic putting the kybosh on many tours and fests, MCR is the latest to move their dates to next year.
