Mastodon – Kvelertak – Mutoid Man: Live at UEA, Norwich

People so often complain that a band isn’t playing their town on a tour. Every announcement is met with requests to play Billy from Stoke’s bedroom – though that would be sweet – and never satiates the audience size. Spare a thought for the people of Norwich who have had to go for years without seeing the glory of Mastodon in their city. As such, tonight’s event is packed out from the moment doors open, and anticipation is at an extreme high.Continue reading

Ben Koller Of Converge and Mutoid Man Breaks His Elbow, GoFundMe Launched

Ben Koller is one of the greatest drummers in music today. A tireless player and entertainer who is the engine of bands such as legends Converge, and the fast on the way to being legends Mutoid Man. Sadly, Ben may be out of action for quite a long time as he broke his elbow in what is being termed a freak accident and is looking at a ton of recovery and rehab, and time spent off the road. The road is where Ben, like most working musicians in metal, make most of their money to live. Now Ben’s fellow Mutant Stephen Brodsky has helped launch a GoFundMe campaign, to raise the money needed to get him on his feet in this difficult time. Being the holidays and times being what they are, please give what you can. And if you can’t donate right now, we ask you to share this post and the link below with as many friends as you can who might like to support Ben. Thanks! Continue reading

Psycho Las Vegas 2018: Live From Hard Rock Hotel And Casino

Psycho Las Vegas has grown and evolved over the years and has shaken off any comparisons to niche European fests and your traditional US fest, itself having no close comparisons, and being its own beast. Having everything under one roof including your stay can lead to late and debaucherous nights for some, packed and planned diverse schedules for the devout, a little compromise of both for others, but an all around good time for all. For a journalist working the fest, it goes by in a blur but you still experience having those stand out moments as well as highlights of your own. Continue reading

Rock on the Range Live at Mapfre Stadium

What began at Crew Stadium in 2007 as a one day festival with 14 bands has evolved into a three-day festival with around 60 bands each year. Since its humble beginnings of Rock on the Range, it has sold out. In 2007, the fest sold out at only 30,000 tickets compared to this year’s 140,000 tickets. ROTR has become the “mecca” of rock fests on the east coast. Rockers AKA “Rangers” migrate by the thousands to Mapfre Stadium in Ohio from across the globe to attend. A spiritual pilgrimage of sorts for die-hard rock fans perhaps? I can only speak for myself, but it is an amazing experience to embrace the many cultures.
