Watch Metallica, Korn, Heart, Mastodon, members of Soundgarden and More Pay Tribute to Alice in Chains Live at MoPop


Yesterday, Alice In Chains was awarded the prestigious Founders Award from Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop). They were celebrated for their 30-year career by a cadre of their friends and peers playing AIC covers from the Rock and Metal world such as Metallica, Korn, Mastodon, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, and Fishbone, as well as members of Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, and others. Alice In Chains also performed their first show since the end of their tour cycle for 2018’s Rainier Fog album in 2019. The event was This year’s celebration was broadcast virtually on Amazon Music’s Twitch Channel watched by more than 275,000 people and raised over $600,000 USD. The Statue of Chris Cornell at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) Vandalized.


 

Seattle station KIRO 7 News reported that Late Thursday night (August 20), the beloved statue of local and music legend Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of The Dog, solo) was vandalized. It was painted white. Cornell died on May 18th 2017. Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky released a statement via the late singer’s social media. She wrote: “My children and I are heartbroken to learn of the vandalization of Chris’s statue at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. The statue is not only a work of art but a tribute to Chris, his incomparable musical legacy and everything that he stood for. It represents Chris, who is beloved not only in Seattle, but worldwide.

Chris Cornell Statue Unveiling Ceremony Announced In Seattle


Soundgarden has gone down as one of the most important bands to ever come out of Seattle, Washington. Chris Cornell’s 2017 death devastated the music world and spawned countless tributes cementing his legacy. Now a statue erected in Cornell’s memory has its unveiling date, on October 7th. “Chris Cornell: An Everlasting Tribute to Seattle’s Son” will be unveiled by Chris’ wife Vicky Cornell and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP).
