Mr. Bungle Releases Cover of The Exploited’s “USA” for Charity, First New Music in 21 Years

After teasing it on social media, Mr. Bungle has shared their cover of The Exploiteds political punk anthem ‘USA’! The single and limited edition t-shirt is out now with 100% of proceeds donated to Musicares Covid-19 Relief Fund! The Bay Area band, whose current incarnation features original members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton (Faith No More, Dead Cross) and Trey Spruance with Scott Ian (Anthrax, S.O.D) and Dave Lombardo (Dead Cross, ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies), is donating 100% of the proceeds from both the song and a limited edition t-shirt to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, through the 4th of July. The shirt, which will only be offered through Independence Day, is available exclusively via Mr. Bungle’s webstore (https://blixtmerchandise.shop/mr-bungle). The MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund was created by The Recording Academy to help those within the music community who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The cover is amazing and an amazing comeback for the band, for whom the track marks their first new music released in 21 years, since the seminal California album! Mr. Bungle Teases Release to Benefit MusiCares Charity This Week

Mr. Bungle has been in the studio working on a new release, reportedly a re-recording of their 1986 demo The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, plus new songs and covers the band performed at their February 2020 shows. Watch Mike Patton Join S.O.D. for “Speak Spanish or Die” from Quarantine

As we have been saying Charlie Benante has been killing it in quarantine, teaming up with many of his famous metal musician friends to play covers from quarantine. Now he has again reteamed with featuring Mike Patton (Faith No More, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle) and they have done their classic song ‘Speak English or Die’, recast as ‘Speak Spanish or Die’. Mr. Bungle, fronted by Patton, played the song on tour this February. Last month S.O.D., which includes Benante, his Anthrax bandmate Scott Ian, and Dan Lilker, teamed up for renditions of ‘March Of The S.O.D.’ and ‘Chromatic Death’. Patton makes an appearance in the accompanying video as “The Lonely Rager,” complete with a cowboy hat and bandana mask. Watch it now!

Mr. Bungle Teases More Behind The Scenes Images from The Recording Studio

A few days after teasing a new recording, Mr. Bungle has shared more photos on social media (Instagram and Twitter). The band is apparently in the studio working on new recordings, likely with the lineup that just performed the Mr. Bungle reunion shows last month. Joining Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn and Trey Spruance for those shows were Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Suicidal Tendencies and Dead Cross drummer Dave Lombardo. In addition to performing all of The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny demo, the band performed several “new” songs live that were just early unreleased Bungle hardcore songs, eight covers and ten originals overall during their shows. The band has not released any new music since their California album in 1999. Any new Mr. Bungle release would be a cause to celebrate so fingers crossed! Continue reading

Mr. Bungle Confirms They Are Performing Three “Old” New Songs

These Mr. Bungle reunion shows continue to be the gift that keeps on giving. They kicked off their brief mini-tour in Los Angeles this week before convening to the groups home turf of the Bay Area, rounded out by two shows in Brooklyn next week. After confirming the band was creating limited edition poster art for each show, they have now confirmed the “new” songs in the setlist are in fact, updates of unreleased tracks from bands’ earliest days. The three songs are ‘Glutton for Punishment’, ‘Eracist’, and ‘Methamatics’, which was represented on the first show’s setlist as ‘Meth’. Perhaps this means there will be an new EP or Record Store Day Release in the offing, fingers crossed. Continue reading

Spotlights Streams “Sleepwalker” As a Digital Single, Tour Dates Incoming

Post-Rock band Spotlights have shared a new digital single to their Bandcamp! ‘Sleepwalker’ was avaialble as a physical version of the album-only track on their excellent 2019 released Love & Decay (Ipecac Recordings). Dave Lombardo Gives an Update on the New Dead Cross Album

In an update to social media, drumming legend Dave Lombardo (ex Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Original Misfits, Mr. Bungle) has given an update on the progress of the new album from Hardcore Punk supergroup Dead Cross. Lombardo reports that tracking for drums, guitar and bass are finished and they are waiting for vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) to record his parts. The new Dead Cross LP, due out on Ipecac Recordings later this year, is one of the most anticipated releases of 2020! Continue reading
