ALBUM REVIEW: MWWB – The Harvest


Originally planned for release last year, the fourth album from Welsh progressive doomsters MWWB (formerly known as Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard) had to be delayed after guitarist Paul Michael ‘Dave’ Davies suffered an almost life-ending Covid-related stroke from which he is still recovering. Recorded before his illness, The Harvest (New Heavy Sounds) finally sees the light of day but due to lockdown restrictions in place at the time, the Wrexham five-piece was reduced in size for the recording, the band losing guitarist Wes Leon, and bringing in Black Moth drummer Dom McReady to fill in for regular sticksman James ‘Carrat’ Carrington.Continue reading


ALBUM REVIEW: Elder – Omens


Did you daydream as a kid? Just stare off into nothing and let your imagination run wild? I did. A lot of my early childhood was spent amazed at what my mind could cook up with if I had a lack of books or toys, and before my soul was captured by music. Laying on my back in the grass, seeing shapes in the clouds or constellations at night, that was pure happiness as a kid. I never really stopped chasing that vibe as an adult, because I still drift off and let my brainwaves go crazy. Expect nowadays my field is my headphones and a turntable, and the clouds my mind is chasing down are inside of my eyelids, and not the sky. According to a post at Resident Advisor, both legendary Keyboard brands Moog and Korg have made their popular iOS Apps for iPhone and iPad avaialble for FREE right now! Moog has waived charges for its Minimoog Model D iOS app for iPhone and iPad. Released in 2018, the app captures the original circuitry and look of the influential Minimoog, which was first released in 1970. Kor’s Kaossilator apps for iOS and Android. “Schools, workplaces, and meetings worldwide have been requested to close by their respective governments and so many people are studying and working from home,” Korg wrote on its website. “To help you with a musical way to occupy your mind we have decided to make the Kaossilator app for iOS and Android free of charge for a limited time (iOS version: through March 31, 2020.
