Forget about guillotines, spiders, Vincent Price and Frankenstein. This is a more down-to-earth, less twisted and surreal version of Alice, even if the record does occasionally touch base with the likes of From the Inside.

Listen to Khemmis’ Doom Metal Cover of Misfits Classic “Skulls”

One of the great releases for the latest “Free Bandcamp Day” on July, 3rd 2020 was Denver Doom Metal band Khemmis and their two-song release More Songs About Death Vol. 1. The EP follows April’s release Doomed Heavy Metal. The release features an epic doom cover of Misfits’ Horror Punk classic ‘Skulls’ and ‘A Conversation with Death (Acoustic)’. Both track were recorded by the band remotely during the quarantine from the coronavirus (COVID-1) pandemic. The Misfits cover is especially a revelation and much like the recent EP from their brethren Spirit Adrift, we kind of want an all unplugged release from Khemmis right now. The band is working on the follow up to the acclaimed album Desolation from 2018. Continue reading
