Metallica, Foo Fighters, The Struts, Weezer and More to Headline Boston Calling 2022


Boston Calling, the acclaimed three-day festival poised to make its triumphant return to Allston, Massachusetts this Memorial Day Weekend, May 27 – 29, 2022, announces its full lineup today. Headlining the festival are rock and roll icons Metallica alternative rockers The Strokes, playing their first show in Boston since 2006; and Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers Foo Fighters. These three powerful rock bands will lead a lineup of over 50 performers, including the largest collection of regional talent ever to take the stage at Boston Calling. The 2022 bill features an incredibly diverse mix of globally recognized music stars, including Rüfüs Du Sol, Weezer, Haim, Run The Jewels, Glass Animals, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Avril Lavigne, Black Pumas, Modest Mouse, Goose, Cheap Trick, Oliver Tree, Earthgang, Orville Peck, The Struts, and many more. The entire lineup can be found below, listed by day. Rage Against the Machine was previously announced as a headliner, going back to 2020, but the band has pulled out as they reshuffled their spring touring plans.

BottleRock Napa Valley Announces Daily Lineup, Single Day Tickets On-Sale News


BottleRock Napa Valley, presented by JaM Cellars, has announced the 2022 festival daily lineup and release of single-day tickets. The three-day music, wine, craft brew and culinary festival will take place in the heart of the City of Napa at the Napa Valley Expo on May 27-29, 2022. All 3-day festival tickets have sold out. Influential Rocker Burke Shelley of Budgie has Died, Age 71


Legendary proto-Heavy Metal artist Burke Shelley of of Budgie has died. He was 71 years old. The news of the influential bassist and vocalist’s passing was shared earlier today by his daughter Ela in a Budgie fan community on Facebook. Shelley has been in poor health for several years according to published reports (Blabbermouth.net). Budgie was huge in the pre-New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and Thrash Metal era, inspiring praise, covers, and love from bands as major as Metallica and Iron Maiden, and all of their followers. Metallica broke out their cover of “Breadfan” at their recent 40th Anniversary shows, and the song has been a staple of their shows for decades. They previously recorded “Crash Course In Brain Surgery” and “Breadfan” on several covers records and single. Maiden has covered “I Can’t See My Feelings.” RIP Burke.

It will be held Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29th 2022 at the Napa Valley Expo in Northern California. The festival returns to its usual weekend after moving to Labor Day weekend in 2021. Metallica Adds New Content to Their “Black Box” Archives Project


Metallica has added a ton of new content to their ongoing celebratory archival project, “The Black Box.” The band is touting 53 new “artifacts,” 6 new videos, and 11 new audio enhancements. Watch Fan-Filmed Video from The Second Metallica 40th Anniversary Concert


Metallica played the second of their two 40th anniversary concerts at The Chase Center, in their hometown of San Francisco last night (Sunday, December 18). Right before the band was to start playing, the fire alarm went off in the arena and people started heading for the exits, but everything was back to normal in a few moments. On this night the band played several deep cuts and songs they have not performed in many years, some since their 30th anniversary shows in 2011. Watch fan-filmed footage of the show!
