Jason Newstead, former member of Metallica, has shared a home video with fans while self-quarantining with his wife, Nicole.due to the coronavirus in his home in Jupiter, Florida. To date, Newsted has been part of the Jupiter community for nearly 20 years. He captioned the clip: “Just having some fun during Social Distancing”.Newstead who has had other projects post-Metallica such as Echobrain and his solo Metal band Newstead as well as a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s touring band and Voivod. More recently he has done some charity shows with The Chophouse band of which he is the frontman. He also famously quit all social media in 2014, and didn’t comment on it publicly until 2017. Jason was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, in 2009. Continue reading

Everybody has a story.
There are many words of wisdom born from the soul of Michael Alago that he has shared in his memoir. Most know him as the music industry legend that signed Metallica to Electra Records and helped guide them on the path to being the biggest band of all time. The Drew Stone documentary Who The F*ck Is That Guy: The Fabulous Journey of Michael Alago (now on Netflix and Amazon) shined a light on him that he deserved for decades. But there is so much more to his story, to the person than bands he signed, and who whom he rubbed shoulders with. The film was a terrific introduction to his life and times and why he deserves the credit he does. The book slowly peels back the years, all the wonderful and terrible things that life can bring and all the in-betweens. A lot of formative times with his family growing up in Brooklyn, dear friends, loves and losses. A terrific tapestry of experiences, stories, and reminiscences. There are many standout movements, including instances of Michael being surrounded the greats of the music and art world; Jerry Brandt, Bill Graham, Danny Fields, Bob Krasnow, Robert Mapplethorpe and many more. It’s cool enough to have met those people, but what really matters is listening and learning from greatness when it comes across your path. He did just that. Continue reading
Metallica and Billabong LAB has announced the fifth and final product delivery in the Billabong x Metallica 2019-2020 Collection of menswear in their collaboration. Titled “…And Justice For All”, this latest selection of apparel is inspired by Metallica’s classic fourth album and features previously unreleased concept art by boardsports-affiliated artist Pushead in a limited release of cross-branded surf trunks, T-shirts, and corduroy jackets. Metallica has announced they have been forced to cancel their upcoming South American tour this spring with support from Greta Van Fleet. The band is working on rescheduling for later in 2020. Additionally, the Danny Wimmer Presents festivals: Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple we also canceled and addressed in a statement by the band. Also, they have been added to a special Thursday Night show of Louder Than Life on September 17th. Finally, Metallica announced they will host a concert series on YouTube and Facebook, known as #MetallicaMondays starting tonight.
