Metallica Cancels Its Vinyl Subscription Club for 2023 Due to Global Vinyl Delays


Metallica has sent a message out to subscribers of their vinyl Subscription Club that they are suspending the club for 2023, with no idea when it will resume in the future. Citing the demand for vinyl and global level delays, they canceled arguably the most successful vinyl subclub for rock or metal. Metallica has shared a new lyric video for their new single “Lux Æterna!” in five different languages. The lyric video arrives in English, Japanese, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. Watch Pantera Perform For the First Time in 21 Years at Mexico’s Hell and Heaven Festival


 

The reformed version of Pantera (Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, with Zakk Wylde on guitar and Anthrax’s Charlie Benante on drums) performed tonight as one of headlining bands at Mexico’s Hell and Heaven Fest in Toluca, MX. Tonight was the start of a multi-continent world tour expected to last at least into 2024, including three dates at Slipknot’s Knotfest events in South America this month, 10 dates in Europe and opening for Metallica. The band played a selection of tracks spanning their albums from 1991 – 2000. The stage set up was slightly reminiscent of The band’s tour for the Reinventing The Steel album (Elektra Records, 2000), while a giant video screen showed Pantera’s official music videos, clips from The Pantera “Home Video” series, and paid tribute to Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell Abbott. Apocalyptica’s Version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” Appears in Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” Series on Netflix


 

In addition to the cool new series for Wednesday series on Netflix, based on the character Wednesday Addams from the popular series, films, and cartoons of The Addams Family, there was a cool music surprise. Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” can be heard, in its cover form by Apocalyptica during episode three of the acclaimed new show. This makes the second Netflix series bolstered by a Metallica this year with Stranger Things featuring “Master of Puppets” earlier this year. Other music on the soundtrack includes Danny Elfman and Chris Baker who did the score, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Cramps, Dua Lipa, Edith Piaf, Beach House, and more! Created by Tim Burton, the series stars Jenna Ortega (Scream 2022, X) in the title role, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more — “is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” Continue reading

Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation focused on creating sustainable communities by tackling issues including hunger and workforce education, brings its Helping Hands Concert & Auction back into the physical world for its third year: On December 16, Helping Hands will make its Southern California debut with Metallica and special guests performing at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Metal Blade Records, the fiercely independent label that launched Metallica, Slayer, Armored Saint, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, and dozens more iconic heavy metal bands, continues its 40th Anniversary Celebration in 2022 with the release of a new playlist featuring a selection of songs from the label’s 10’s catalog spanning 2010-2020. In conjunction with the release of the label’s 10’s playlist, a brand-new merch design created by American artist Samwise Didier. Samwise serves as senior art director at Blizzard Entertainment, having acted as art director for the flagship games of the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises, the producer of several games, and an artistic contributor to almost every game released under the name Blizzard Entertainment.
