INTERVIEW: Tommy Victor of Prong on Their Next Album, Touring with Danzig, and More


Ghost Cult caught up with frequent interviewee and metal legend Tommy Victor of Prong! We were at Aftershock festival where Tommy was doing double duty with Prong and Danzig this weekend. Tommy discussed touring with his own band and Danzig, the US festival circuit, performing an album in full live versus a legacy “hits” set, the challenges of playing the classic Danzig guitar solos by John Christ, the progress of the new Prong album, and more!

Maryland Deathfest to Return in 2024

In a statement posted on social media, Maryland Deathfest has announced they will return! After a hiatus for 2023 the fest will return from May 23rd to May 26th, 2024. In a message to fans the co-founders of MDF discussed the hiatus and the the return as well as new dates for 2024. MDF 2024 will be their 20th fest in Baltimore. They did announce that aftert the upcoming London Desertfest, they are discontinuing all other festivals they have put on, Netherlands Deathfest, California Deathfest, and more will be no more. MDF has operated for almost 20 years, put on 19 fests, and expanded to a global footprint, all while giving a greater voice to Death Metal, Avant-Garde Metal, Stoner Doom, and more genres, perhaps as much or more than any fest in the world. Maryland Deathfest is Postponed Once Again, Now Booked for 2022

As we are starting to see the cancelations and postponements of tours and festivals for the summer of 2021, the list of rebooked fests is beginning to grow. Maryland Deathfest has forgone attempting to host a 2021 festival and instead will take place next in 2022. The festival made an announcement on social media detailing its plans.

Dropdead Releases Benefit Album of Unreleased Demos


Maryland Deathfest XVII, May 24, 2019

Legendary Rhode Island hardcore punk band and activists Dropdead have released a ten-song, digital compilation of unreleased demos via the Armageddon Label, and offshoot of the Armageddon Records shops in New England. The sales from the release will go to fund a new van after theirs was stolen in Montreal June first. The band continues to work on new music for release at a future date, as frontman Bob Otis recovers slowly from his 2017 motorcycle accident. The band recently got off tour (when their van was stolen), performed at Maryland Deathfest this year and has booked other shows this year, such as the legendary Obscene Extreme Festival next month.
