New Soundgarden Biography,from Journalist and Author Greg Prato, Out Now

A new book tracking the rise and career of Soundgarden is out now from respected music journalist and author Greg Prato ( Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music, A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon, and Too High to Die: Meet the Meat Puppets). Dark Black and Blue: The Soundgarden Story is out now for purchase and tells the Seattle band’s complete story – beginning with its members’ pre-SG days, all the way to today. Also featured are all-new interviews for the book, including chats with Matt Pinfield, Phil Anselmo, and Marky Ramone, among others, as well as rarely seen photos from throughout the band’s history. The book also analyzes their catalog and covers frontman Chris Cornell’s tragic death in 2017. Punk Documentary Series From Iggy Pop and John Varvatos Debuts on Epix

Punk, a new documentary series made its debut on the EPIX channel tonight. Produced by Iggy Pop and designer and music mogul John Varvatos, Punk is a four-part series that explores the birth of Punk Rock. A huge assemblage of stars has come together including Pop, Varvatos, John Lydon (Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Marky Ramone (Ramones), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana), Duff McKagan (Guns n’ Roses), Donita Sparks (L7),director Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization), Joan Jett, Danny Fields, Legs McNeil, Wayne County, Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF), Debbie Harry and Chris Stein (Blondie), Wayne County, Flea and many more. It may become a recurring series since the listing on EPIX refers to it as “Season 1”. Heavy Montreal 7th Edition Wraps Up, Date Set For 2016

Over 40,000 metal, rock and punk fans attended this past weekend’s Heavy Montreal at Parc Jean-Drapeau this past weekend. The 7th annual edition was so successful that next years 8th edition has already been announced, set to take place August 5 to 7, 2016. Acts for Heavy Montreal 2016 are tba.

Headlined by the likes of Slipknot, Korn and Faith No More, 70 bands in total graced four stages. Other bands on the bill included NOFX, Extreme, Iggy Pop, a reunited Alexisonfire, Faith No More’s first performance in Montreal since 1992, and a special set from Marky Ramone and Andrew WK who performed greatest hits of The Ramones to a roaring crowds treated to a more diverse bill more akin to European open air festivals than the typical concerts of North America.

A break down of the fest highlights by the numbers :

  • 12 Quebec groups
  • 3 days at Parc Jean-Drapeau
  • 5 after parties at the Métropolis and the Katacombes

Killogy is a high-energy, animated dark comedy from creator Alan Robert (Life Of Agony) based on his hit IDW Publishing comic series, in association with Squeeze Studio Animation and award-winning producer Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris). Stars Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (the Ramones), Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter), and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (the Misfits) battle it out in apocalyptic-Brooklyn when an ancient voodoo curse wakes the dead and floods the city with blood. This outrageous premise and bizarre mash-up of punk rock royalty, wiseguy sarcasm, and over-the-top gore makes for one hilarious rollercoaster ride.

Killogy is being produced and developed under Robert’s Wasted Talent Entertainment banner, consisting of Robert, Chris White (V/H/S Viral) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent). Stream the teaser below.

Gary Holt of Exodus and Slayer To Appear On That Metal Show

Exodus and current Slayer guitarist Gary Holt will be appearing on tonight’s episode of VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show, airing at 9/8 Central and featuring additional guest appearances by Marky Ramone, Darryl Daniels and Joel Hoekstra.

Holt will be discussing Exodus’ upcoming run on the Dark Roots of Thrash II tour with Testament and openers Shattered Sun.

Drummer Kenny Aronoff and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone will be donating special personal packages to raise money and awareness for the Rock Against MS Foundation.

Aronoff has donated personal time at his private studio in Los Angeles. The winner of this package will be getting a fully loaded DW drum kit with all the hardware, throne, stands and cymbals from Sabian. You will choose how you want to spend your time – You can choose a drum lesson from Kenny Aronoff or just some hang-time!
