While it may be OK to not be OK, as the main refrain of the thumping anthemic opener ‘Enlightenment?’ insists (and while it absolutely is, we still have much work to do as a collective mass to support each other), Sleeps Society (Sleeps Brothers, in assoc. with Search & Destroy, Spinefarm, UNFD, Universal) takes a step and seeks to provide a place, a community packed with a kinship of like-minded souls who will be there with and for each other. It would be easy for the Sleeps Society (a Patreon-based family) to be empty words and hollow platitudes, but there is integrity to the missives that are as important to the overall point of While She Sleeps in 2021 as the songs. Former Manowar guitarist Ross the Boss returns with all guns blazing on Conquered Lands (Steel Cartel), the third full-length release from his subtly named Death Dealer project. In a gloriously predictable manner, the riffs come thick and fast as gods, blood, battles and all other true metal necessities rain down like exploding magma from the skies.
Industrial metal kings Die Krupps and Heavy Metal legend Ross The Boss Friedman, famous from his stints in Manowar, The Dictators, and his solo career have teamed up for a new single, out now via Cleopatra Records. “No More Heroes” is a cover of the 1977 track from The Stranglers, which The Dictators supported on their No More Heroes UK tour. The song, which name-checks several recently passed historical figures, is a fitting tribute to the also recently passed Stranglers keyboardist Dave Greenfield, one of the last heroes of British rock, who died in May of this year from complications related to COVID-19. The single will be featured on a forthcoming full-length effort from Die Krupps to be released in 2021, so jam it out now!
Stars from across Rock and Metal will join together on a livestream to raise money tonight on the David Z Foundation Livestream. David Z (David Zablidowsky) was the brilliant metal and progressive rock musician best known for his work in bands such as Adrenaline Mob, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and ZO2, died three years ago on July 17th, 2017 when a tractor-trailer collided with Adrenaline Mob’s tour bus.
