Legendary Oslo Black Metal Landmark and Record Store Neseblod Suffers a Fire


According to a published report by VG News in Norway, Oslo record store Neseblod Records has suffered a fire and a major loss of business. As of now, it is unknown how extensive the damage is, but in the article, the owners feared a total loss, especially historic memorabilia from the store and the first and second wave Black Metal scene.Originally known as Helvete (“Hell”) the record store was owned by Øystein “Euronymous” Aarseth. In addition to the meta and rock store, the basement housed the Black Circle club where the Norwegian Black Metal scene formed and bands such as Aarseth’s band Mayhem and many others that sprung from the store employees and its denizens. The store was also immortalized in the Aarseth biopic Lords of Chaos by Jonas Ackerlund. In addition to a crucial piece of metal history, the store had continued to be a tourist attraction and a tour stop during Inferno Metal Festival’s popular annual Black Metal History tour. Lord Of Chaos Film About Norwegian Black Metal Scene To Hit Theaters Soon


Long in the making film Lords of Chaos, based on the popular book about the early history of the original Black Metal scene in Norway will finally hit theaters and On Demand on February 8th 2019. Directed by Swedish filmmaker and one-time Bathory drummer Jonas Åkerlund, also known for videos by Metallica and Rammstein spearheaded the project along with Gunpowder and Sky, and is co-produced by VICE Studios, 20th Century Fox, Scott Free Productions and Insurgent Media. The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and currently holds a 91% fresh rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch the trailer below. Continue reading
